The "shocking news" wasn't a "shock" to me. Not after 50+ years of radio, in-house and beyond. While maybe not publicized then, there are many such cases (and FAR worse) that I personally had knowledge of or witnessed over the years -- especially from the 1960s through 1980s. ("Radio people are such pigs," said a female on-air hire to me as PD/OM at a station in the 80s.)
But the real reason Buzz left WPHT was that CBS Radio Philly wanted him out of there and off the air. Marc Rayfield realized they'd made "a horrible mistake" in hiring him to take over Smerconish's old show slot. If Buzz hadn't "resigned to pursue his other interests," he would have been outright fired!
