Sholin, New KFRC Air Team To Debut...

Unless I missed the update on this board, the debut date for Dave Sholin and the rest of the new KFRC air team has been moved to Monday, July 9.

The original press release, reprinted elsewhere on Radio-Info.com, announced the start date for Sholin as this coming Monday, July 2.

If this has already been covered, please disregard this message...

They have "the rest" of the air team in place ready to go? Anyword as to whom will be behind the microphone, besides Dave Sholin?

I hope it will knock the roof off the dump! I have my fingers crossed for John MAck Flanagan to be part of the team!

I know of one, but they won't start until the 10th or 11th. Well known in market and multi year history with oldies/CR.

Celeste Perry will be Middays. That's official as of now. Other shifts soon to come.

well in the recent trend they have a .07... not bad for being back such a short time, and considering free fm never even registered.....

Celeste Perry middays yea,, thats a perfect choice,, an EX KYA dj,, couldnt be happier,,,,now put John mack Flanagan on right after Celeste, and it will be Deja Vu,,, just like May of 1990!! BossJock1947 and bcradiodj,, Christmas came early for me,,, Let me guess Bossjock1947 you were hoping for Cammy,,, Dream on,,,Kenny in Concord

I hope they get some crazy wild air staff from "the day" to liven things up. This line up is starting to sound like the same 'ol , same 'ol.

Yeah...I'm trying to keep a positive attitude. To me, baseball on the radio is like listening to paint drying. The As will make a huge dent in the Classic Hits programming - especially in afternoon drive and early evening. It was better when they could run baseball on 610 AM, and keep the regular programming going on 99.7. Perhaps if we beg, CBS will move the As to KYCY. Drawing the baseball audience would give them a chance to publicize the talk shows, and raise awareness of the forgotten 1550 frequency. I guess that didn't do much good for Free FM, though, did it?

As for voice tracking at night, I still say that a VTed show - if given some love and attention (in other words, real content) - can be just as good as a live show. Remember that Kenny and other Satellite radio fans are always talking about the great Classic Hits programming on XM...Bobby Ocean, etc. I'm sure that's ALL voice-tracked.

A's are already on KYCY

Carter is correct, and they have been on KYCY for quite some time. But when you can't define what the format is, and it is a jumbled mess of podcasts, financial programming, news, and sports.....it's not going to do well especially on a station that you can't even hear well in the city in which the programming originates.

"A's are already on KYCY"

Oh...Shows you how much attention I'm paying to the Big 1550...not to mention As baseball, doesn't it? I didn't realize it was a simulcast.

Wait a second. Are we talking about KTRB or KYCY?

(Sorry, Kevin! Sorry, Jim!)

Good Point!! Either or I suppose ;)

I'm guessing that CBS has a contract with the Oakland A's to broadcast the games on the 106.9 frequency. But remember this is when FREE FM was still on. This was a ploy to get more listeners to tune into 106.9.

Now that it flipped to KFRC, they may have to live up to their agreement. Maybe next season Oakland A's will only be on KYCY. (I hope)

The contract to broadcast the A's on 106.9 FM was with CBS, regardless of the format. Ken Pries most certainly did not tell CBS that they wanted to be on the frequency *only* if it was with the Free FM talk programming.

The A's wanted the strength of the signal, not the quality of the other programming on the station.

...This topic has officially gone astray.

Celeste Perry? Better than Sue Hall....but as someone stated earlier...whoopee. If their Billy Joel/Fleetwood Mac music marathon they have going is any indication, this will be one boring station.

First of all, the music being played is not the final playlist, from what I understand. It's still being tweaked and evaluated.

Second, it ain't all Fleetwood Mac and Billy Joel. If it was, the Billy Joel alone would cause me to upchuck. (Want to hear about my two years in exile on Long Island, with its four-Billy-Joel-songs-an-hour content rule, regardless of the station's format? Don't get me started...)

Today, in just a short listen, I heard "Shame" by Evelyn "Champagne" King *and* "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin.

And "Get Back" by The Beatles.

And "Stayin' Alive" by The Bee Gees.

And "Jungle Love" by Steve Miller.

And "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire.

They are mixing it up. The playlist sounds like its heading more in the direction of "Classic 1970s KFRC" rather than simply "Classic Hits," and I think that's a good thing.

(And now, back to sending Mike Preston and Tim Jordan mindwaves to hire John Mack Flanagan and Don Sainte-Johnn... oooooooommmmmmmmm...)
