Shop-at-Home Network Moving Transponders

I was flipping through the channels early this morning and caught The Coin Vault from The Shop-at-Home Network on my local MY Network TV affiliate (that's not unusual. It's on every morning from 1AM-6AM). Anyway just above the phone number to call-in and place your order was a scrolling message that said "Effective 12/20 Shop-At-Home will no longer be available on Galaxy Blah Blah Transponder Blah Blah. It will be moving and only be available on Galaxy Blah Blah Transponder Blah Blah. All cable companies are urged to switch to the new Transponder before 12/20 to avoid disruption of the Shop-At-Home Network Feed".

Why would they scroll this on the air? Shouldn't Shop-At-Home just email and/or FAX the information to all the cable companies and/or Over the Air Affiliates?

Just as amazing is the apparent fact that they're not even acknowledging the over-the-air affiliates. Doesn't the new SAH have the wherewithal (or money) to contact its affiliates?

I suspect they do this to make sure that everyone gets the message, and that when a point in time comes close to the cutoff of the old transponder, an alert customer can notify the cable company if the technicians forgot or the notice was lost in the mail.

Last year, I noticed that Fox News changed transponders, and a notice appeared on the screen saying the change had happened (no video or audio). Needless to say, that day Fox News was not on was the best day of my life. ;D
