ShopHQ Goes Online Only, No Longer on Linear TV

ShopHQ has gone online only. First, cable and satellite providers have dropped the channel from their lineups; and now, as of today, it is no longer available over-the-air, either. In L.A., its two (now-former) affiliates have switched to other programming. KFLA-LD 8-1 has replaced ShopHQ with Binge TV (which moved over from 8-3) while full-powered KXLA remapped the network’s former home on subchannel 44-5 to 44-2 and replaced it with CRTV infomercials.

I first noticed earlier this week that Spectrum dropped ShopHQ via the attached slide now showing on its former channel slot.image.jpg

In other markets, what has ShopHQ been replaced with on over-the-air TV?

To fill in the details, America's Store began as a 1988 spinoff from the then cable-only HSN as Home Shopping Club Overnight Service, which operated only from midnight to 9:00am Eastern Time. When HSN acquired several OTA stations themselves the following year, they changed the name to Home Shopping Spree and expanded to 24/7 operation.

In 1997, they began exclusively selling jewelry and the network became America's Jewelry Store in the process. That turned out to be only a limited success so they went back to offering the entire product selection of the parent channel, and dropped the world Jewelry from the network name. They mostly operated as a liquidator for HSN products which had already generated most of what sales were going to happen, so you might remember prices gradually dropping on-air during any given product's appearance until they had sold out.

America's Store went off the air in 2007 after being classified as a "non-core asset".

And sonetime last decade HSN launched HSN2 a 24/7 best of channel.

On COX Cable in Meriden. Connecticut (I live in Southington) if you turn on Channel 81 ShopHQ it goes to a scren like it's trying to launch the channel. Then after a few moments a screen pops up that says "This Channel is Temporarily Unavailable Try Again Later." Then after a few more moments later it reverted back to the Channel I had previously watched. (In my case 152 Logo. I was watching The Nanny last night).
 
Looks like they have shut down completely, as the live streams have ended as well. Website remains up for now but I wonder if they just intend to sell everything off.

Rabbit Ears lists the following as currently active as OTA diginets:
QVC / QVC2 / QVC3
HSN / HSN2
JTV (Jewelry TV)
ShopLC
Rare Collectibles TV (although that appears to be carried in only four markets ... Detroit, Buffalo, Rochester, and Alexandria MN; I'm guessing that the website livestream is where most of their customers watch)
 
As of a few days ago, the ShopHQ Linear TV Channel is back on the Main MPEG2 X.1 Channel on Bridge News stations. BINGE TV which had replaced it on the Main Channel has been moved back up to a MPEG4 AVC/H264 Subchannel.
