Shopping Channels

I have been wondering a lot lately about the various shopping channels especially QVC and HSN. My question is about the hosts. Do they get paid on performance (like a commission)? Or is it, if they don't move the merchandise they don't hang around. QVC especially has a lot of long term hosts so how ever they are paid, it must be generous.
 
I suggest you buy a book titled "Selling The Way America Buys," from former QVC personality Steve Bryant. Lot of insight in that book, on the home shopping business, and other things.
