Short Rant...

I usually keep my mouth shut rather than complain about something I may see "out of place" on television...not today.

Perhaps I'm just looking too much into it, but I'm rather annoyed watching today's ABC15 newscast with the anchor subbing today at 5PM. There just seems to be too many weird facial expressions and poses for the camera.

Alright, rant over.

:)

He may not be subbing but instead a regular. Don't the primary anchors work Sun-Thu?

And speaking of 15's airstaff--since Bellis can't tell us anymore, have they found a WX
guesser replacement yet? Otherwise they're a bit thin in the Super-Duper Doppler 15
(with more radar sweeps than a nuclear submarine! ;D) department, with the morning
WX anchor looking like it's time for maternity leave very soon.

Oops! My "nuclear submarine" remark should be about sonar, not radar.

As for radar, how about:
"...more radar sweeps than the Weather Channel during a midwest tornado--
unless they're running long-form crap." ;)

It just makes you long for the days of Lisa Fletcher and Steve Irvin on the weekends. I turned off the "inexperienced" guy anchoring ABC15 news tonight. Same goes for CBS5 on the weekends (sorry Peter Busch just doesn't do it for me)!

At least, Fox 10 has Linda Williams -- a veteran reporter -- on the weekends.

Looks like they do have a new wx girl--Allison Miller was forecasting on Sunday and her personal page lists her as 15's weekend met. Does that mean Rich Dahlquist is now chief?

The mention of veteran Linda Williams brings a smile to my face.
During her early days on 10, she was just making blunders every day. She luckily received her veteran stripes while keeping her
position at the news desk. Eventually she gained skill presenting the news on Ten. Everybody needs to start somewhere.
b t w Peter Busch is much more experienced than Linda Williams was during "her apprentice years..." I'll take Busch and his presentations anytime, thanks.

@fusejockey -- Well, I wasn't around Phoenix when Linda Williams was "earning her stripes". I'm sure that she had her moments. Back in those days, weekend pm news was definitely the place to practice. In addition, Phoenix was a MUCH smaller market in those days.

Today, I would expect weekend am's to be the practice grounds. However, CBS 5 is too cheap to offer a weekend am newscast. So, we get the "green" guy on weekend pm's. He replaced Christina Wofford and, later, Greg Gurule who were much more experience. Sorry, Peter is not my cup of tea.
