Short shelf lives of rhythmic songs?

It seems like more rhythmic songs have very short shelf lives as compared to its non-rhythmic counterparts. For example, "On the Floor" by Jennifer Lopez was a Number 1 hit in 2011, whereas "Not Over You" was also a hit (I'm not sure quite as big), but it is played in almost every town somewhere. Almost every track by a non-rhythmic artist that was a big hit still gets a lot of airtime, whereas rhythmic tracks fade away (which means they definitely don't test well years later.) Your thoughts?
