Shortwave Dance music Pirate...WMPR Anyone heard it

It appears often in mid afternoon,,, no location announcments,,just station IDs.. It will pop up for 2 hrs, and disappear, and then broadcast again in a month or two... usually on or around AM 6950 Shortwave....

I haven't even looked for a long time on 6950. I got slapped for $1000 on 7415 in 1991.
Now I keep it clean at 100mw on 1620. I will check 6950.
If such a signal is being heard, it's probably also getting into ALL the neighbors' electronics, and hard to mistake for anything other than a pirate. Wise to do SW broadcasts at a location outside a city, with a temporary "field day" antenna at a motel "out in the corn" somewhere.
Better not be on the air too often, or complaints WILL bring Uncle Charlie.

I was just gonna say that if you're broadcasting on SW then you better be in an isolated area. Just one RFI complaint will do you in.

I have no clue where it comes from... its only on every few months for just a few hrs, then it goes away. It most likely is way outside the city.

A few thousand watts out of a farm on 6950 can cover the whole country, and have a near zero chance of being busted. A few thousand watts out of a building in Newark, NJ in the FM band can cover half the state, and also have a near zero chance of being busted.

Why do you say near zero chance with the FM?

I think that the last thought was supposed to be a "tongue and cheek" comment due to the over-abundance of pirate FM's in the the New York Metropolitan area and the longevity of these operations in not being shutdown. "Oh, Judah..... where have you gone......?"

Well, there is another difference. FM will not show up in the phone, TV, stereo of local neighbors near like an AM will, especially when you get into shorter wavelengths. Which is why CB was limited to 5 watts.

I knew a few people who didn't limit their CBs to just 5 watts.
I knew a few people who didn't limit their CB's to just 5 hundred watts...
