Should 97.1 flip?

O-K. The brain damage was rather extensive when I fell from the LeVeque tower as a child. But as for a flip on 97.1, any kind of rock would be a mistake...too much rock already. That "Movin'" format or something like it that appeals to 18-34 may really work for 97.1. One previous poster made a really good point about the large gay populace in Cols. "Movin'" may appeal to them.

We've written about it before ... dance is probably a no-go. But a more aggressive, rhythmic CHR, laced with a lot of danceable tunes ... with live DJ's ... would take down WNCI and WCKX.

Maybe the Wolfes should get out of radio!

Sell, and use the money to buy a TV station in Ft. Wayne or somewhere.

They haven't proven to be good radio operators.

BINGO!!! We have a WINNER! This is EXACTLY what C-bus needs and I couldn't have said it any better myself.

Radiohio is not a good head-to-head competitor. They have a tradition of finding a niche to themselves. (They only became the 2nd Oldies station in the market in '91 because they knew Great Trails was on the ropes.) They're pretty timid, competition-wise.

I haven't listened to WNCI or WCKX in awhile but I have been listening to .977 The Hitz Channel internet stream (http://www.club977hitz.com/) which is an outstanding "station" in my opinion. It's also the most popular station on Shoutcast so it has some relatively good appeal. I have no idea what this falls under or if either of those stations are covering it but it's great.

True. Which suprises me because I had always respected GM Dave Van Stone and consultant Guy Zapoleon. I've lost a lot of that respect. But I will always give Van Stone credit for bringing something truly new to Columbus 5 years ago, even if it's in a pretty sorry state today.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, or knows this, but Columbus has a gigantic gay community compared to other cities and they have above average amounts of disposable income. A dance station like what New York's KTU used to be prior to about 6 months ago I think would take off here even if many of you don't think it would... the format of 105.3 on Long Island and the dance station in San Fran I think could surprise many here.

Who knows? If Columbus really does have a larger (not just less-closeted) gay population, maybe there is enough of a potential audience there to at least make a dance format a bit more viable. OTOH, I know some gay folks who love Metallica but don't enjoy dance music. I'm sure they're not the only ones.

I don't have a cowtown mentality, I have reality. It's never going to happen and making up fake stuff on the intenet is only going to dissapoint you more when it doesnt happen. Although I guess that pretty much is the point of this web site.

Making up fake stuff??? Really? Please do indulge us with your insight. Inquiring minds want to know.

BTW, I mean no disrespect. Afterall, if I had to guess, I would bet that your last name is Dantzer and not Polo.

Could ANY signal in town consider a true modern AC format ?
HELLO?????

There aren't many modern AC's around anymore. It's not just 97.1 that shifted. That said, Hot AC's still come in a wide variety of different shades compared to other formats.
