Should CBS try co-anchors again?

Here is a way to keep Katy and improve their ratings...Couric and Cooper! You could even call it the C&C news!

Katy Couric and Anderson Cooper as co-anchors. Unlike the 1970's Reasoner/Walters experiment, this one might actually have some chemistry. This one might work. Thoughts?

That's not the answer. Katie Couric doesn't strike me as the type who wants to share center stage with anyone else. Plus one would think that her contact calls for her to be solo anchor. And why would Anderson Cooper give up his spot on CNN to move over to CBS?
Also remember the Reasoner/Walters-Rather-Chung anchor teams failed miserably. Like it or not, CBS is stuck with Couric at least until her contract runs out, or the company buys her out, which ever comes first.

The way I see it, Katie was forced into being an anchor because it was the only available star vehicle for her. The better answer for all concerned is to give up the idea of doing a standard news show. They should revamp the show, call it "Katie at Large" and turn it into a talk/interview show. CBS is scared to death of abandoning the idea of a traditional newscast but would win big by being the first to do it. Time will tell if they have the cajones to do it. Maybe they could placate the affiliates by offering an optional traditional newscast for local carry, as long as the new Katie show is also carried.

You are probably right...I was thinking Anderson is an up and coming star, but would CBS Evenings really be a step up from CNN primetime? Even I have to re-evaluate that. Could Katie on CBS speed up the ultimate demise of evening network news? Afterall, this demise has been predicted for many years, if not decades!
