They are using 47 now, and they did elect 9, but DT9 won't have as much coverage as TV9. Their DT9 CP is for just 1kW at 507m. The problem is that GPB got DT8 for WACS in Dawson, and because 8 and 9 are not colocated but are 30 miles apart, the digital 9 will have to protect the digital 8 and will not be a maximized facility. WTVM has applied for channel 11 to alleviate this problem.
But at the same time, GPB also has applied for 11 for WJSP-DT in Warm Springs. The current DT23 is not nearly as powerful as the analog on 28 - GPB decided that they want VHF channels for their network to save on power costs.
I suspect WJSP-DT will move to 9 and WTVM-DT will move to 11 eventually.
No doubt WTVM management has wised up that WRBL-DT has excellent coverage with 1000kW@507m on channel 15 and now wants to maximize their own coverage.
