Should Clear Channel buy KRBE?

If the rumors about Cumulus buying CBS are true (and I can't see how they are) then they'd want to keep KRBE to go with the rest of the cluster. Perhaps it goes the other way and CBS buys KRBE.

Funny you should say that. I have found out the the new CBS Sports Radio network is actually distributed by Cumulus. How that ever happened I do not understand.

Joint venture.

A Cumulus-CBS merger would probably mean the end of the current format on KHMX.

Hows that?

ABC's satellite services, became Citadels, which became Cumulus. The satellite services a myriad of broadcast entities. For example, Salem receives many of it's talk shows and it's newcasts through the XDS satellite system. There are many, many operations like this. It is simply a contract between a broadcaster and their satellite services. It is not a merger of any kind; it's a delivery system.

Just to be clear. Salem radio's XDS system is from Cumulus and it's satellite service. As far as KRBE is concerned, it was a dynamite rocker in the 1970s. It brought down "The Big 610, KILT," KRLY 94 and others.

Krbe truly was awesome under Susquehanna. When I heard they were getting out of the radio business I knew it would be all downhill from there. Its done fine over the near decade Cumulus has had it but not like it used to be and if it falls under Clear Channel.. Forget it

I said the same thing about KRBE's sister station, Q100 in Atlanta. When Q was under Susquehanna, I could make an argument that they were the best CHR in the country. It's sad what companies like Cumulus do to these stations once they take over.

By all means, make the argument...
