Should Power 106 play more R&B yes or no?

They played more on R&B when they were going against The Beat in the 90's and Early 2000's. I love too hear more R&B on KPWR instead of T-Pain, Chris Brown, Trey Songz and The Dream. They should play the new Keyshia Cole Record called Take Me Away. What are your thoughts hit me up. I'm loving the house music though on late Saturday nights thought. Happy 25th Birthday Power 106 LA's Party Station thanks for 25 years of Powerful music. Keep the trends coming.

Chris Brown, Neyo, Usher and Trey Songz are the new r&b of today or whatever you wanna call it despite their pop dance hits on CHR radio. Do you think people still wanna hear the same songs over and over from the 90's. We are in a new decade of music. Power won the battle by default so their is no need for them to compete. KAMP is somewhat their rival and thats it. KIIS is more mainstream now THANK GOD. KXOL is on life support and KDAY caters the Southbay and Riverside. Yeah it would be nce to hear more r&b but it appeals to the kiddies first. R&B is also at a all time low. You should trying contacting the PD and maybe youll get some feedback if they respond.

Thats the same thing old people said in the 90's when Dru Hill came out. That's not real r&b. Al Green, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass is real r&b LOL .... Music changes every decade and r&b has been changing for years. Its a new generation. Power is programmed to serve latino teens so electro pop and hip hop is what they wanna hear. Stations that cater to young listeners must evovle with the times. Dru Hill is consider old school or throwbacks. Alot of the music you wanna hear is on Throwback Jamz on music choice or your iphone KQOD Mega 100 in Stockon plays that stuff.

At what point do we rename this board the "B Jordan Classic Jamz, R&B and Hip Hop Board"

Talk about a takeover!

Jordan, I know when you are 17 and have a lot of time on your hands, but hopefully you are looking forward to the next level of education or beginning your career endeavors with all of your time besides posting about what LA Radio R&B was back in the day.

Being a solutions-oriented guy myself, I have an idea for you - if you really want to work with what you love, why don't you position yourself as the heir to Art Laboe? The geezer can't last forever and with your vast knowledge and his syndication deal, you can sweep right in and take over playing newer old school jamz for today's teens. Think about it.

BTW, are you thanking Power 106 for the eight years you never listened to them too?

house music is making a comeback power 106 should play more house usher j lo music is not consider r&b anymore it sounding more like dance music in 2011. power 106 new logo should be where house and hip hop lives!!!!

power 106 should be playing more generations of music freestyle hip hop house breakdance miami basss to make the station more interesting they play the same songs in row everyhour hip hop get played out they need to have a slow jam show at night with smooth r&b music. even when they mix allday same songs in rotation and in the mix. boring i rather listen to my mixes from dj enrie website beezo.com instead of power 106 playing the same songs allday.

Don't forget the Temptations, Four Tops, Mary Wells, Supremes, Martha Reeves, Jr. Walker, & Stevie Wonder.....now that's real R & B. Dru Hill is not R & B...sorry.

@Channel Flipper I do however want to be a radio personality or a Program Director at a radio station. What station would best fit me? KJLH, KDAY,KPWR. Hit me up? With my music selection I could bring any station to their knees. Maybe I could drive out Art Loboe's ancient behind. He is as old as my great grandmother. Don't tell him I was talking trash about him. If I was running POWER 106 it would be playing a mix of Classic House, Back in the Day Hip & R&B. Hits from the mid 90's to 2002.

Power 106 doesn't focus on smooth R&B. The R&B they would play would be B2K, Usher, Dru Hill, Mya and Missy Elliot, etc. back in the day. I remember them playing B2K's hits such as Gots Ta Be,Uh-Huh, Why I Love You and Bump Bump Bump and 112.

Ah Bass music. My favorite Bass songs are My Boo by Ghost Town DJ's got alot of airtime on The Beat and Power 106 in 1996 Cmon N Ride it(The Train) which is all time favorite Power 106 played everyday day in 95-96 and let's not Love You Down '97 by INOJ Power 106 played that during the of summer 1997 and the last bass song of 90's was Swing My Way by KP & Envyi. They need to do a tribute to Bass music.

You would be better off starting at a college station. Take a few classes in radio and get advise from radio veterans. Most of those classes in college you will take field trips to radio stations. I did back home in Kansas City a few years back we went to the Cumulus Radio cluster. A good experience. Get a internship as well. Most people start off in small markets but if you have connections and grow relationships you might get lucky and start off here in Los Angeles. You can pretty much be a PD of any station you want dont limit yourself. But with your musical history KDAY, KJLH, KGGI, KPWR, KCAQ, KQIE, and KYVB would be right up your alley.

I like that song too another california classic

Yeah that was current hip hop and r&b. Those songs are out of date I dont even know a station that plays B2K anymore.

BRING BACK 103.9 KACE !!!!

Tell that to Univision it aint gonna happen. KHHT is the next thing to KACE. At least KACE had a few decent talk shows.

B2K used to rule these LA airwaves back in 2001-2002 when I was in elementry. I haven't heard anything from them since they came out with Bump Bump Bump. My Favorite songs out of all the B2K hits is Gots Ta Be & Why I love You from 2002 because those records are more R&B influenced then Uh-huh & Bump Bump Bump. 100.3 The Beat & Power 106 were one of the first stations in L.A. to play B2K. KJLH only played Why I Love You in 2002.

Bro that group B2K broke up years ago where you been? ::) Why do you think Omarion came out with those solo hits back in 2006-2007. IceBox and Entrouge. Very sucessful on CHR radio but that groups music days are over. R&B music is at a low time as well. You hardly hear R&B on CHR radio unlike in 1999 and early 2000's. KDAY is your musical freind.

They broke up in late 2003. Omarion wasn't all that to me. The only song I liked was O from 2005 that's it. He had a song called I Get It In from his third album called Ollusion. I heard I get it in on Power 106 last year other than that he didn't made that much noise.

I'm liking Back Seat by The New Boyz & Dev. Power 106 was playing it during the 3:00 hour. I'm starting to enjoy Power 106 again.
