SHOULD WFAN CHANGE UPDATES TO EVERY 30 MINUTES?

Back when WFAN started in 1987 they gave us sports updates every 15 minutes during regular programming. It was too much. They changed their policy to give updates every 20 minutes.

The world has changed. Should WFAN change with the times? Most folks can just click on the Web and get their scores. Currently WFAN is saturated with spots and updates. I believe it's time to make changes at the great 660.

I would have no problem with the FAN HEADS if they changed their policy. Updates at the top & bottom of the hour.

That's a good idea. I don't think the audience that listens to the Fan will be tuning out to often and also some times not much is going on in sports that requires that updates should be heard every 20 minutes.

Every thirty minutes would work.

That's if you're only looking at quarter hours. They're thinking in terms of cume; that is, the number of people tuning in to hear what's going on and then tuning out. It's the same reason all-news stations keep "repeating" stories, weather, traffic, features, etc. Plus, there was mention of being able to get it on the web. So give more frequent updates and less people will have to turn elsewhere to get their sports news.

In Boston they have 20/20's,but they don't hit their breaks, they get to it when they get to it. I'd say they could go to a 30/30 during nonplaying hours.

WFAN also has "20/20 Sports".

Personally, I think its ok with what they have now. "30/30 Sports" would be fine with me also, but I'm sure a lot of it has to do with advertising and it would require a different jingle package.

I'm sure there are tons of reasons for 20/20 updates to help specific ratings, advertising, more breaks on popular topics to keep people listening... etc...

But I'm positive many sports fans who listen alot find themselves really interested in a discussion and after a few calls find themselves saying "oh good Lord! ANOTHER update already?!!?!" I think I would "vote" for the 30/30 updates...but keeping the updates at 20/40 with the current format allow people who catch news headlines or other programming to catch sports headlines at times other than the top and bottom of the hour. Just my $.02...
(I know CBS is 15/45)

Sorry to be so particular, but 30/30 Sports doesn't make sense. 20/20 does because it's 20 minutes before and 20 minutes after the hour.

How can 30/30 not make since? It is simply at the top and bottom of each hour. Every 30 minutes.

Oh well, doesn't matter. I doubt WFAN will change their 20/20 sports reports anyway. It seems to work fine for them and I don't hear anyone complaining.

30 minutes before the hour and 30 minutes after the hour? Same thing. It's call top and bottom for a reason.

Right, but there would still be a report every 30 minutes. I don't know what would be wrong with 30/30.

It doesn't matter. You have to admit, we both are in a silly debate.

Well, I don't it is an issue. I'm pretty sure 20/20 will stick around. It was just a suggestion from the other poster. Doesn't mean anything will happen.
