Should WPRI give a shot at the 7PM local newscast?

It seems that both of WPRI's competitors, WLNE and WJAR now have a 7pm newscast. That leaves WPRI as the only major network affiliate in Providence that doesn't. Do you think they would ever give up their long-time affiliation with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! for local news? If they were to do that, they COULD move those 2 shows over to WNAC. I think this has happened in other cities as well.

Why? Fragment the 7pm audience even further?

No go for the 7PM Newscast on WPRI. The station has aired game shows in that slot since 1975. Viewers like it that way. That's where they are going to stay.

Does anyone have the ratings? I would guess that the game show block does better than the two newscasts. If anything, they would program a 7pm newscast over on WNAC.
