SHOULD XM ADD KYLD TO THEIR CHANNEL LINE-UP

Should XM add KYLD(WiLD 94-9) their channel line-up, so people all over
America can listen to this GREAT radio station?

I was thinking about this yesterday -- not necessarily about WiLD 94.9, but about local radio in general. What would happen if large group owners such as Clear Channel and CBS aligned with a satellite radio system such as XM or Sirius and provided local channels, much like DirecTV and Dish Network do for satellite television?

What if, in the San Francisco metro listening area, you had all of Sirius' channels (including Stern, Hardcore Hip Hop, 1960s Oldies, 'Eighties, Air America, ESPN Radio, etc.), along with a cluster of local stations, like KCBS, KGO, KNBR, WiLD 94.9, KMEL, Live 105, [email protected], Star 101.3, KKSF, KOIT, etc.?

Aside from the non-stop traffic channels, Sirius has no other "local" programming, such as news or sports. This plan would add a "live and local" element to their offering.

In turn, the local stations would add a new (and needed) revenue stream -- and countless potential listeners.

Just an idea. Maybe not a great one, but an idea nonetheless.

I love you Hanky, but KYLD is the furthest from great....

your just still mad about the doghouse's contract ended and them not staying, get over it!!

It's still the truth. Without the Dog House, that station is not the same...

You think that station is great?

yeah, its still good, people just don't listen to a station for jocks or morning show, they listen for music

Why would someone listen to a station for music when they can burn a CD and listen to whatever songs they wish to however many times they to want without commercials?

its been a long way down...... Hopefully Jazzy jim can bring them back.

Why would XM add KYLD when they have commercial free channels playing the same genre of music with better variety and no corporate radio control tying the hands of the PD/MD? There's no logic in it.

Most stations stream on the Internet, which cost money. I doubt radio stations would want to pay twice. When XM started KGO was on XM for a while. They said: KGO is now on XM Sattallite radio.

KGO was never carried on XM. KIIS, WLTW, KHMX, and WSIX were at one time. Now, XM does carry WLW.

They also carry WSIX again. Well see how long it lasts. WLW is great. Grew up listening to them in Ohio. Still the best am on the dial.
