Why does everyone refer back to WTRG 100.7 as some sort of standard bearer for this format? I'll give them credit for running a decent station, but it never really lit up the world in ratings or revenue and you can't blame Clear Channel for all of that. The fact is, the doo wop show on that station did well ten years ago, and those listeners were old then, even more so now. The very top end for any decent ad buys these days is 54. That means the top end graduated high school in the early 1970's, which is well past the doo wop era.
I think Y102.9 is very well targeted and anything hinting at doo wop would be a step backwards. Tom Kent does a great job, and most people outside of the radio industry would think he was live and local. Congratulations to Bill and his crew there for doing good, contemporary oldies radio.
