Shoutcast V1 vs. Shoutcast V2 & others

So the Shoutcast V1 which has not been updated since 2004 will not work with some of the newer browser versions and phones. Anybody switching or already on Shoutcast V2? I have already been raped by roytalty fees which increased by about 100% in 2016 (somebody wants to put independent radio broadcasters out of business). I'm sticking with what I have. Not one more cent. From what I have found the V2 is anywhere from about $20-$50 more per month.
