Showcase Tompkins brings out the radio

Admittedly this is a shameless bit of delayed self promotion, but hell, it's not like there's a lot of other posts at the moment. (shrugs)

Anyways, myself and my comrade-in-arms, Greg Cotterill, were representing WEOS down at the Showcase Tompkins show last week; it was at the Ithaca Farmer's Market. Thank providence it was Wednesday instead of Tuesday; the temperature was - to put it gently - much more pleasant on Wednesday. Nice to see a good turnout from local media, I might add; besides us there was WICB, WVBR, WSKG (more TV than radio) and Cayuga Radio Group (which is...ermm...everyone else in Ithaca? ::) ) It was a tad disappointing to see WSKG's focus on TV more than radio, but I'm a hopeless radio guy so guess ya can't put too much stock in that. WICB and WVBR had nice booths, though. Cayuga's wasn't bad, either. Had great conversations with the folks from all of 'em.

Of course, in the shameless part, I think our booth kicked some major butt. ;D Except I think our little Fantazein was getting more attention than our radio programming was. Oh well.

Did anyone else make the trip?

No offense, but I didn't even know this event existed, nor do I have any reason to go all the way to Tompkins County for anything. Well, besides seeing Ron White at the State Theatre a few weeks ago. Other than that, it's a bit too far outta my way, especially with gas stupidly zooming north of $4.25 a gallon. Decent-looking setup though.

Glad to know, if I ever actually donate to public radio, the money will be well-spent on badly-needed things like Fantazeins and excess computers for PowerPoint presentations at remotes. :p

Well, since you put it that way...

The Fantanzein is my personal "toy", I've had it for about six years...long before I started working for WEOS. The laptop and LCD monitor are my standard-issue laptop from our parent college, HWS...I just took 'em off my desk.

You got Ron White tickets? I'm rather jealous...really wanted to see that show...
