Shows that "visted" other shows

This might be pushing, but I remember when Davie Jones of the Monkees visited Marcia on the Brady Bunch-Monkees Show may have been history by then though.
But the Beatles, the Fifth Dimension, the Carpenters, and the Supremes were all mentioned by another girl in that episode (sarcastically, of course!) as groups they could try to bring to their prom if Jones couldn't make it. Ironically enough, all of them except the Carpenters had broken up by the early '70s. The Supremes were still together, but Diana Ross had gone solo by then.
Even if the Beatles were still around in the early '70's, they wouldn't be playing the kind of music that junoir high girls would want to dance to at their proms.

If you ever get a chance check out those teen magazines like 16, Tiger Beat, Flip and the like back in the early 70's. No Beatles there at all, nor the 5th Dimension or even Davey Jones !!! Back then it was the Osmonds, Jackson 5 and David Cassidy. My guess is that the Brady Bunch got Jones cheap.

Interesting they didn't get David Cassidy to appear on the Brady Bunch or even the Partridges themselves ( or vice versa ) since I am pretty sure the cast from both shows were friends ( I remember seeing a pic in a trivia book showing the kids from both shows hanging around each other ) and I am also pretty sure both shows were filmed at the same studio.

I seem to recall that the Brady Bunch episode in which Marcia met Davy Jones was from 1973, but I could be mistaken about that. Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., had started their post-5th Dimension career by 1975 ("I Hope We Get to Love in Time" was a minor hit for them.). Of course, the Bradys themselves were gone by 1975.

And no one has mentioned it, but it seems like there have been many shows in which characters appeared on game shows, and participated in these game shows in character (not to be confused with actors appearing on these game shows as fundraisers for charities). It is interesting to watch these characters interact with the game show host, who is of course not acting, but rather hosting the show (although it's possible that he may have been given a script or some lines to read).
Best example of this I can think of is when the Harpers (Mama's Family) appeared on Family Feud, and Naomi leaned over several of her own family members to get her kiss from Richard Dawson! :-* I suppose such shows were fairly easy to do, because the set (of the game show) already existed, and most of these game shows were syndicated, and thus not the "intellectual property" of any one network.
I was gonna mention this, but the only other REAL one off the top of my head was Sanford & Son where Grady & Fred were in the audience od (Let's Make a Deal(???))Fred ended up knocking over the set...lots of other had fake game shows, like Laverne & Shirley with Lenny & Squiggy eating the sausage they won on a dark stage, Doogie Howser was on some "genius" version of Jeopardy & Peter brady was a loser of the Golden Scoop Award on that kid's t.v show with the Cartoon King (may have been real in Los Angeles but I wouldn't have known) ???

From the movies to T.V, Mike Meyers appeared ALOT as Austin Powers on MTV.

Weird Al Yankovic appearing on the original Art Fleming version of "Jeopardy" in the music video aptly titled "I Lost On Jeopardy" the parody of "Our Love's In Jeopardy" by the Greg Kihn Band...roughly around 1983 several years before Alex Trebek brought back Jeopardy in the late 80s.

The Jetsons Meet The Flinstones,a TV movie I'm guessing here before its release on VHS...there was previously a Flinstones/Jetsons interaction in the 1960s orignal Jetsons series.

The Lawrence Welk Orchestra appearing on TWO shows...the original Saturday night program on ABC (then titled: "The Dodge Dance Party")and another midweek series "The Plymouth Show" in the late 1950s.

Also the cast of "Touched By An Angel" (Roma Downey, Della Reese and John Dye) appearing on the pilot episode and occasional subsequent episodes of the spinoff series "Promised Land."

(TBAA is a series I dearly miss since its departure from prime time and the emergence and subsequent overkill of reality-themed shows.)

...The Partridge Family was a Screen Gems product, filmed at the Columbia/Sunset Gower Studios (as was The Monkees). The Brady Bunch was a Paramount Television product, filmed at the Paramount Melrose studios...

--In addition to "Mama's Family," there was an episode of "Angie" (ABC, 1979-80) where the family went on the Feud.

--After the premiere of the syndicated Ray Combs (in addition to CBS daytime) "Family Feud," there was a fall 1988 episode of the NBC comedy "227" (with Marla Gibbs and Jackee) where the cast also made an appearance on the Feud (interestingly, in both the Dawson and Combs versions it appeared that a lot of NBC O&O's picked up the syndicated Family Feud despite the network versions being on ABC and CBS, respectively).

--There was a fall 1986 episode of "227" where Marla Gibbs' and Jackee's characters appeared on "Wheel of Fortune."

--Three seasons earlier (1983-84), there was an episode of "Gimme a Break" where Nell Harper (Nell Carter) and Addie (Telma Hopkins) also appeared on "Wheel" (right when both the NBC daytime and syndie versions were becoming megahits) and won a trip to NYC (where the final season--Season 6--in 1986-87 of Gimme a Break would eventually move to, while the Season 3 NYC episode actually provided some of the opening shots of Nell and Addie in NYC in the show's Season 6 opener).

--"The Odd Couple" made a hilarious appearance on "Password" (the ABC Allen Ludden version)

--In the final season of "Wonder Years" (1992-93), the episode where Kevin Arnold was preparing for his SAT also included Monty Hall reprising his "Let's Make a Deal" hosting gig (in a dream sequence by Kevin).

--The "Sanford and Son" episode involving a game show appearance by Fred Sanford which was referred to earlier was actually "The Gong Show."

--In 1988, there was an episode of "Mama's Family" where Thelma (Vicki Lawrence) appeared on "Jeopardy!" and won a trip to Hawaii (after she made an impressive comeback before Final Jeopardy in order to qualify with only $100).

--And last but not least (while speaking of Jeopardy), how can we not forget "Cheers" and Cliff Claven's appearance on "Jeopardy!" ("What are three people who have never been in my kitchen?"--also blowing $22,000 in Final Jeopardy with that response)

Nancy Drew popped up on the Hardy Boys Mysteries shows on & off until season 2 (late '77, early '78) when they just flat out renamed the thing the Hardy Boys/Nancy drew Mysteries. BTW, Pamela Sue Martin sure was hot :-*! I remember sean Cassidy singing "Doo Doo Ron Ron" & "That's rock & Roll" on the haunted castle episode.

After Enos from the Dukes of Hazzard got his own short lived show about him moving to the city to destroy more cop cars :D (I LOVED that show!)...he came back & married Daisy on one of the final DOHs, didn't he?

To add to the game shows:

Felix and Oscar appeared on Let's Make A Deal together with both playing both ends of a horse.

The Flintstones: Barney (on Fred's ticket because he is scared of game shows) appears on The Price Is Nice, the same as The Price Is Right including a lookalike Bill Cullen and Barney tells his price on the sailboat of 2 cents and wins and shares the prize with Fred, but unfortunately the sailboat sank before they really had to enjoy it.

Golden Girls: Dorothy, in a dream, appears on Jeopardy where she dominates when she answers all the $1000 questions in rapid fire order and then loses on the Final Jeopardy question.

Golden Girls again: Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia all appeared on the show Grab That Dough and their bickering caused them to go over to competing sides and all they won was an electric skillet and soup for a lifetime.

King Of Queens: Doug appears on The Price Is Right when Bob Barker was host and got to spin The Big Wheel.

Cliff and Norm from "Cheers"appeared on "Wings"...

Paul Reiser's character from"Mad About You" appeared on "Seinfeld". (Or mebbe it was the other way around. Anyway, Kramer was subletting his old apartment.) Ursula and Phoebe (both played by Lisa Kudrow, a'course) were (are??) twins, and Ursula made more than one appearance on "Friends"....

I wanna say Robert Urich, back in the "Spenser: For Hire" days made an appearance on "Cheers", too. Think it was one of those before the opening credit things. May not have been in character or even mentioned his name.

Enos and Daisy were supposed to get married in the 2nd to last episode but Enos called it off. They were then supposed to get married in the first Reunion movie but then Daisy called it off.

I don't think they ever got married.

By the way, several Dukes characters guested on ENOS but that show never survived. Two characters who did not guest on Enos were the two scabs, Coy and Vance, who were brought in when John Schneider and Tom Wopat stayed out for most of a season looking for more money.

And, ya know, I often wondered what the producers were trying to tell us about this show that had a gorgeous girl wearing daisy duke shorts and a character named "Cooter". ;D

In addition to the many Guy Smiley-hosted (with Prairie Dawn usually as a contestant) game shows (including game-show title play-ins like "Beat the Time" and "The Triangle is Right," the latter having every correct answer as "triangle") on "Sesame Street," around 1987 they had a WOF parody called "Squeal of Fortune" with Pat Sajak and Vanna White Muppet lookalikes. The object of the game was for contestants to correctly guess how many times a Muppet pig squealed while they spun the wheel.

"Sesame Street" also had a game show parody that I only remember seeing once back in 1983: "Family Food" (with Richard Dawson as host and Muppet foods promoting the virtues of healthy eating). (Interestingly, I recall around that time seeing a few grocery stores named "Family Food"--I'm not sure if this may be a national or regional grocery chain, and may even explain why that Sesame Street skit was only aired once that I can recall as a kid).

I don't remember seeing this skit in its entirety (other than a clip in one of the Carson Collection infomercials), but while on the subject of Richard Dawson, he hosted a Family Feud-parody skit on the Tonight Show (with Johnny as President Reagan, and IIRC Queen Elizabeth was one of the contestants in the opposing "family"). (Richard: "Name something on a farm." Johnny/Pres. Reagan: "Uhh, we-ll . . ." Bell sounds and scoreboard shows "well" as a correct answer with one response. Richard: "It's a well!!!")

Also I meant to mention this in my most recent reply, but although I'm not sure if this would technically count, for SNL fans don't forget the final "Celebrity Jeopardy" in 2002 (on Will Ferrell's last night as a regular cast member) where the real Alex Trebek appeared at the end.

In addition, going back to "Sesame Street" parodies of game shows, while looking for a YouTube clip (if available) of the last SNL Celebrity Jeopardy mentioned above, I came across a clip with Siskel and Ebert (which I have linked below) appearing on the Sesame parody of "Sneak Previews" ("Sneak Peek Previews") (arguing about Oscar's questions about "Thumbs Sideways"). Hilarious!

Who was the comedian who popped up on Lucy, Sanford & Son, Flintstones & MANY other shows with snide remarks. He'd always turn around and say "YYYYYEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS???????"

That was the great Frank Nelson, who was also Jack Benny's nemesis on many episodes of the Jack Benny Program, as the irritating salesman, clerk, or bureaucrat.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0625372/

Last week on the Jack Benny Shows (it airs on Me-TOO in Chicago), Jack is talking to the pyschatrist's receptionist and he says, "wherever I go there he is, it's the same guy, in a store, in a hotel, on a train he's following me making wisecracks." The receptionist says 'I'm sure the doctor will help you."

Then the door opens and Frank Nelson backs out and says "Thanks doctor I feel so much better, I know I was upset but wherever I go there he is telling those unfunny jokes, following me around, no matter how many times I change jobs, he's always there."

Then Nelson turns around and is face to face with Jack Benny...

LOL

I though Enos and Daisy were already married by the time of the reunion movie. I don't recall a wedding ever being shown. By this time, Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke) had died, Roscoe was the new "boss," Enos was the new sheriff, and Cleatus was his deputy.

The Alex Trebek version of Jeopardy began in 1983, nearly simultaneously with Weird Al's parody "I Lost on Jeopardy," but Weird Al's parody definitely spoofs the Art Fleming version of the show (even mentions him by name!).

...Siskel & Ebert also contributed their own voices to an episode of The Critic...

The Trebek Jeopardy! started in the fall of '84. The Greg Kihn song was on the charts in early '83, and Weird Al's version came out by the summer.
Fleming also appeared in '82's Airplane II, playing a game of 'Jeopardy!' aboard the doomed space-plane, the Mayflower, as a punch-line to a line of dialogue along the lines of 'everyone aboard is in jeopardy'.
'I'll take 'Famous Disasters'....'The answer is: 'The Mayflower!'

BTW, another sitcom-game show connection: 'What's Happening!!!' had an episode where the cast attended 'The Gong Show', though I don't believe a host appeared(this may have been 1977, between Gary Owens and Chuck Barris).

Wasn't just any ole Cooter...it was CRAAAAAZY Cooter Comin (!) atcha!!!! :D ;D :D ;) :) ;D :D :D

Back to Sanford & Son- Wasn't there an episode where Fred ended up on Midnight at the Apollo?

I may be just imagining it, but it seemed to me on an episode of Romper Room once Miss Sally took her class to Mr. Rogers' house/Neighborhood.

Years ago (WJKW)TV8, Cleveland-"Hoolahan & Big Chuck" had the character "SuperHost"(Lynn Sheldon) pop into one of their goofy skits & he worked for Channel 43 which was(is) a competing station.

While on the subject of Mr. Rogers, don't forget that he appeared on "Sesame Street" in 1981:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ5PWhcjksU (Part 1)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F07wBreogs&feature=related (Part 2)

Also in 1981, Big Bird returned the favor by appearing on "Mister Rogers Neighborhood" and visiting the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, linked below (the original story was that Fred Rogers wanted Carroll Spinney to visit the neighborhood and show how Big Bird worked, but Spinney vociferously opposed this idea).

And then there are the Stat Trek shows of the 80s, 90s & 2000s...
Patrick Stewart appeared as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard on the series premier of Deep Space 9...
The series premier of Star Trek:Voyager took place on Deep Space 9...
Cmdr. Ryker's transporter-generated alter-ego from ST:TNGappeared in at least one episode of Deep Space 9...
Michael Dorn as Worf reprised his character as a regular on the later years of Deep Space 9...
Then Ryker, & Marina Sirtis as Troi, reprised their roles one last time in the series finale of Enterprise.

I am sure I am missing a few, in that sequence...
Oh, a couple more: When Leonard Nimoy portrayed Spock in a 2-parter on ST:TNG (ostensibly to help generate buzz around the time the Star Trek 6 movie came out)...And Scottie appeared in one of my favorite ST:TNG episodes from season 6, "Relics"... As well as Mark Lenard playing Spock's father in 2 episodes of ST:TNG...

And so forth.
