Shows were the location was never revealed

The first dozen or so episodes were shot on location in Georgia, and I've always thought the series was set in Georgia. As far as the Alabama road sign, continuity was never a strong suit on the show. The California mountains in Dukes don't bother me as much as the grassy lawns shown on CSI. (Las Vegas is in the desert, people don't have grass lawns.)

These threads are fun.
Yes, they do. That is one of the reasons that there is a water shortage in Vegas, residents constantly watering their lawns so that they can have grass lawns. Same thing going on in Pheonix, also.

Also, Quahog (see this site) has enough of a Rhode Island connection that it could be a nickname for Providence.

A friend of mine who works in Providence TV says they once figured out pretty much exactly where Quahog would have to be, given the Providence skyline that's visible so clearly above the Griffin house... :)

While it's a well-known fact that exteriors for "The Prisoner" were shot in North Wales, according to the story line, the location of "The Village" was never exactly revealed. In one episode, it's mentioned that it's on the coast of Morocco or southern Portugal, or, possibly an island. Another episode makes mention that "The Village" is "in Lithuania, 30 miles from the Polish border." But in the final episode,
it's indicated that possibly it's location is in England near London.

the whole point of the prisoner is for the location of the village to be unknown.

I just thought of the ultimate TV production where the location was never mentioned...Peanuts specials!

Chances are the state is Minnesota ( Charles Schulz is from there ) but the town.....well the cartoon specials and even the strip itself is quite vague as to point since not a whole lot is shown other than the usual...the inisde of their homes, inside the classroom, Snoopy's dog house, Lucy's psycho booth, the brick wall....not very much to go on.

..well in one of the Peanuts movies Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty ( or was it Lucy ) visits a neighborhood amusement park..perhaps this could be "Valleyfair ! ! "

I know one location where it is not set: Needles CA. In the strip, Snoopy gets visits from his cousin Spike, who lives there. Possibly the only actual town mentioned.

In the Dukes of Hazzard, the general feeling you get when you hear them talk about “Capital City” is a reference to Atlanta, but outdoor scenes show California mountains, not Georgia (which is a constant source of irritation).

But there are also references to Atlanta, and in a very early episode (maybe the pilot) Bo & Luke went to Atlanta. Maybe suggesting Atlanta is the closest major city, but they're across the state line in "Capital City's" state?

The first dozen or so episodes were shot on location in Georgia, and I've always thought the series was set in Georgia. The Dukes were absolutely set in Georgia (whereabouts exactly IS unknown; my guess is probably northwestern Georgia, close enough to the Tennessee and Alabama borders). Although it wasn't specifically mentioned on the show, at least verbally, there were visual references...the Hazzard town square had Georgia state route signs, and there was an episode from season six ('83-84) that aired last night on CMT in which Cooter takes the fall for one of his buddies being accused of high-jacking auto parts. One of the those packages were addressed to Jefferson Davis (Boss) Hogg, Hazzard County, GA, ZIP code 00034 (of course, Georgia ZIP codes range from 30002 to 31999, and from 39813 to 39901).

Also, Atlanta and Capital (or Capitol) City were always mentioned as separate cities, not one in the same.

Snoopy also had a sister named Belle, who supposedly worked in a truck stop in Kansas City.
Petaluma, CA, was mentioned in the '60s when Snoopy set off to compete in the annual wrist-wrestling tournament(Petaluma is only about a half-hour south of Santa Rosa, where Schulz lived and worked for many years.)
Schulz once gave the home telephone number of longtime friend and colleague Bill Mendelsohn(co-producer of the TV specials) in a strip; Charlie Brown's croquet ball got knocked several blocks away, and by the time he found it, he decided to just use a payphone to ask the other kids to call him at that number!
Mendelsohn lived on the San Francisco peninsula. I like to think that when Schulz drew winter scenes in his strips, they were set in Minnesota, otherwise, they were set in the Bay Area. ;D
