This shouldn't be much of a surprise for those who followed HBO's announcement from late last year regarding launching a standalone VOD service (HBO Now), Showtime formally announced that it's starting a standalone version of its Showtime Anytime VOD service starting in July, in time for the season premieres of "Ray Donovan" and "Masters of Sex" (both premiere on July 12). Like with HBO Now, the new Showtime service will only be available initially on Apple's streaming devices (Apple TV, iPod, iPhone, iPad) and by computer by the launch date, on other streaming devices on a later date. However, unlike HBO Now, the Showtime service will also offer the live bi-coastal feeds of the main channel. The price will be $10.99 a month, which is slightly cheaper than what TV providers charge for the entire Showtime suite of channels (some providers also offer The Movie Channel, The Movie Channel Xtra, and Flix as part of the package as well).
