Shreveport Country Radio - KXKS vs KRMD

Both stations continue to fight it our but in the 12+ books the Kiss Country folks have taken the title from KRMD 4 out of the last 5 surveys.

Without a lot of trash talking and school yard banter, what is the difference between the two stations that has made Kiss the winner over KRMD in recent times? Is KRMD really that far behind or are they just not "getting" what the market wants?

Myself, I see it as a hipness factor beating out heritage. Discuss.

Here is an outsiders opinion, From the times I've been in the Shreveport area over the past several months,(which has been often) Kiss seems to be a little bit more upbeat IMO, I've noticed that KRMD has a lot of loose segues, and kind of a laid back attiude. Not saying there is anything wrong with either one, but the market may be wanting a more upbeat "crush and roll" type of station.

"The market may be wanting a more upbeat 'crush and roll' type of station." That has got to be the most absurd reasoning I have heard in a long time. Who in the world would "crush and roll" on a country station? That WAS typically for Rock & Top 40 stations.

I had a PD/OM who "hotlined" jocks for not crushing and rolling on a CLASSIC COUNTRY STATION! How absurd is that????

Yes, maybe it does need to be a little more upbeat, but the "crush and roll" factor is not a factor. I don't imagine people going to work saying, "at one time, I loved KRMD, but they just don't crush and roll and it drives me away." Does that sound stupid???? Yes, it does.

Yes, I would say it is a factor, regarless if you want to call it "crush and roll" "upbeat" "fast paced" or which ever. I was simply saying that the market may be wanting a more upbeat fast paced, high energy type of country station according to the ratings. Does that work in all markets? NO This one, maybe so. And besides this board is for radio people and we all use radio terms here that most people would not know anyways.

"Crush and roll" is NOT the same thing as "upbeat" or "fast paced."

Yeah, so what station you work at????

Mike, I'm not even going to entertain this conversation anymore, because apparently that is what you are wanting, and besides the stations that were being discussed don't even affect you.

I know why you don't like that term, and thats fine, no hard feelings from me. But don't get on here trying to start something with me. We both have better things to do.
