Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl

I'm curious...what stations in NH/VT will be airing this year's contest on August 5th? In my neck of the woods WTSA (1450) Brattleboro plans to air the game. Others?

For those unfamiliar, The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl is an annual event that brings together the top high school football players from New Hampshire and Vermont for a game that raises funds (and awareness) for Shriner's Hospitals in the Northeast. In its 50+ year history, the event has raised over $5 million for a worthy cause. Of note this year, the game will take place at Plymouth State University, rather than at the traditional (and more centrally located) Dartmouth College location due to construction/renovations.

there's a similar game in Maine tonight, the annual Lobster Bowl to benefit the Shriners charities. used to be that at least 3 or 4 radio stations would cover the game, and there was even (back in the early 90's) live (local) cable coverage.

great cause - but like most high school sports, gone bye-bye as not being fiscally worth the while.

WTSV/WNHV-AM in Claremont/White River Jct. has been the "flagship" for this game for a while, not sure what the status is this year if the game's in Plymouth. The broadcast team used our MARTI which was pretty much a line of sight shot from Hanover, we put the feed up on the phone bridge and other stations dialed in to pick it up.

I was Shrine network board-op in '04 ;-)

Good for you Viking!, Of course that was back in the VOX days. Sad to say I doubt your current employer will bother carrying on this tradition, because they would have to pay a board-op. Actually, no, I don't think they HAVE any boardops, even if it were in the budget. Maybe you could go out and help some old friends in need? I'm sure there's a nifty gift certificate for the Cave in it for ya...

C'mon 'Ben,' if you really knew me (I'm guessing you did somehow given your posts) you'd know I was always more of a Benning St. kinda guy. I'll take a Jack Daniels sirloin and a Harpoon I.P.A. as long as you're buying.

I most certainly would have helped out back in my "glorified part-timer" days, as you so eloquently put it.

Thanks for playing!

You WERE a part-timer, were you not? Seems to me you were paid good money to play obscure Rush songs in obscure dayparts back in your days on "The Q" while skiing all day. What'd you give that gig up for?

I hope they are taking care of you in Portland, don't you voicetrack 23 stations or something?

All the best,
BK

Turns out that WTSA 1450 didn't carry the game after all. The station has been off the air since Thursday. They moved the game over to 96.7.
