Shrinking Red Sox (Don’t say Radio) Network

I'm not sure how eliminating their radio broadcast network and going streaming only has worked out for the A's - that article I posted above was from a few years back. That said, even if a sports team has to cut back to fewer stations in their broadcast network, with smart speakers, apps on mobile devices and even laptops/desktops with access to stations' websites, listeners should be able to find and listen to most any game they seek, unless certain games are under contract and are only carried on subscription services, etc.
The stream of the game from a broadcast station's website is generally blacked out due to licensing requirements to protect paid services.

When WBOQ had Red Sox their regular format ran on the stream.
It's possible Sports Hub's play by play of B's,C's and Pats are available on stream. Not so sure about EEI and Sox. And by stream I mean not just station site but any apps or
sites like Audacy or TuneIn.

Every MLB team's stream is available. There's no more restriction on streaming since MLB doesn't charge for audio subscriptions anymore. The Sox are streamed online up here at twinstateoldies.com.

Really? MLB is selling audio subscriptions here: MLB Audio | Listen to every MLB game live

$20/yr for MLB Audio or $3/month.

Different team, I know, but for example: I can't listen to the Cubs without having an MLB subscription -- the MLB app on my phone won't play the game audio without an active subscription. I can't listen to the games on WSCR via the Audacy app as I'm not in Chicago, and the local affiliate here in Madison (WTSO) does not stream the games on the iHeartMedia app, either.

It's my understanding that stations can work out deals to stream to geo-located users (if you're in their local broadcast area, you can listen online), but out of market listeners get other programming.

TuneIn includes MLB and NFL games as part of their $7/month Premium package. Worth the money.

The NBA and NHL have streamed games free for years. IIRC, the NBA requires their app, while the NHL streams via their flagship stations (for example, the Blackhawks on WGN).

The Audacy app on my Xfinity Flex service offers streaming from affiliates of a bunch of MLB teams, none of them geofenced. My error on Gameday Audio; could have sworn I'd read that it was free now.

My previous post on this thread was deleted by an unnamed moderator for being a "political statement" (depsite no mention of any political candidate), so I'll try this again.

An unnamed Boston baseball team has lost listeners because they continue to push political agendas. As recently as a few months ago, certain New Hampshire radio stations were pre-empting a certain 3:00 - 7:00 regional political talk radio show with these games. Certain people were turning the dial when this was happening. Certain people are happy that certain New Hampshire affiliates are no longer carrying certain baseball games.
Curious. You mean the same political agenda that dominates radio talk both nationally and locally?
