Si, Se Puede** Redux

Nice and sunny day...who wants to go to school?...The Guv indicates she'll sign 10~Seventy...and plenty of social networking buzz about a big protest march at the Capitol today. Given both newstalkers are on the bird after 12 noon, Nurse Jeff and I wonder who'll bust format first and go with a real story?

** attn Barry Young: it's pronounced See Say Pway Day...not Pway Duh.

Why all the brouhaha over Senate Bill KNX 1070?

It's about time a heritage radio station was honored,
even if it is in El Lay. I'd take the N-Xters over both
92.3 KT'R and 55/FYI anyday. Classic traffic sounder
on 1070.

(Now, which side will complain first that I'm trivializing
such an important issue? ;))

Waiting on the first cop to ask JJ The King of Beepers for his proof of citizenship.

"I don't have to show you anything. Why? Because I am JJ! I'm the owner! And I'm the King of Beepahs!"

Since KNX is one of the few, true all-news radio stations, they probably will provide better radio coverage of the Arizona governor signing Senate Bill 1070 than all the Arizona talkers combined. Sorry KTAR and KFYI! :(

Too bad Jim Sharpe left the building as KT'R could have used him when Dumber & Dumbest left the protest and returned to the studios. McBland was called in to blather for an hour and it was just like old Toaster Talk days once again. Kudos to Broomhead at KFWhyEye as he wisely let listeners vent while McBland was interviewing KT'R newspeople. At least it wasn't raining where all the high school kids were!

It was great to hear Jim Sharpe on with Barry Young this morning. I was high atop Piestewa Peak at the time!

Dr. Akbar -- You beat me to it. History was made today. Kudos to KTAR-FM over KFYI, for their comprehensive coverage of the protests at the Capitol, airing both Gov. Brewer's press conference and the questions and answers afterwards. (Anyone notice how she sort of had an attitude answering some of the questions? I was laughing on my way home...)

KTAR kicked KFYI's arse on this one. CC has demolished their news staffs and it shows on days like this one. While KFYI played national shows KTAR actually took dumb and dumber and their minions to the state capitol. Later all KFYI could do was take calls from listeners while I heard reporters on KTAR talking about the riot police marching down the road. No surprise here. Props to Cross and the others at KTAR.

As well they should....the head count at KT'R is at least six times greater than KFWhyEye's. Even in the vida loca days of the Beer Baron when 9~Ten piled bodies ten deep in the newsroom, KT'R 6~Twenty beat 'em. When it comes to breaking local news, KT'R does it best.

Unfortunately, hearing the breaking news on KTAR involves having to listen to their on-air personalities in between the breaking news.

Curse those D'backs for pre-empting Joe Crummey.

A tip of the fez to the D'backs for pre-empting Dumber & Dumbest.
