In the very recent mini-series The Kennedys, there are eight one-hour episodes focusing on Joseph P., Joe Jr., John, and Bobby, and nary a mention or reference to Ted. It was like he didn't exist.
If this was during their childhood, it may have been before he was born. (I haven't seen the series, so I can't comment on it.) If it was after Chappaquiddick, can you blame them? It also wouldn't surprise me if there was no reference to Rosemary. Didn't Joe, Sr., want to pretend that she didn't exist, and thus keep her out of the spotlight?
In one of the middle episodes, Rosemary, who was actually named Rose Marie but was called Rosemary to avoid confusion with her mother, was prominently featured, both as an adolescent and adult.
The series itself covered the time from when Joe Sr. was Ambassador to England through RFK's assassination.
The episodes also included some of their indiscretions, including Joe Sr.'s affairs with Gloria Swanson and his assistant, and both JFK and Bobby with Marilyn Monroe.
