Sid Rosenberg Moves Closer And Closer To Full-Time Return To WFAN

Newsday's Neil Best reports that Sid will soon provide sports updates for 1010 WINS in morning drive.

Via ISDN.

From Miami.

Where Sid currently hosts an afternoon drive show on WQAM.

(Granted, such arrangements are certainly not unheard of, as WFAN's own Richard Neer currently does his talk shows for that station from Charlotte via ISDN. But the fact that Sid has this deal with WINS set up, certainly makes me wonder how soon he will be to returning to the Fan...)

He was on Mike's show last week on WFAN. Also he does his Miami show from CBS Radio in NY. If he ever got onto the fan I could see him being Mike's co host which was in talks when Mad Dog Chris Russo left for XM. Hows he doing over their? Wishing he was back on WFAN

Hmmm... Well, if that's the case, either Neil Best has some inaccurate information, or there was a complete misunderstanding. In that case, it would make much more sense for Sid to do sports updates for WINS while he's physically in New York.

As for Sid teaming up with Mike, that would only come into fruition if Mike would agree to it. He appears to be doing well enough on his own post-Mad Dog.

Thats what Sid was talking about on Mike's show last week. How he does his Miami show from CBS Radio in NY.

If Sid didn't go on Mike's show wonder where else WFAN would place him. Middays and revamp that. And lets ask this would Chris Russo ever want to return to WFAN? If so maybe pair up Chris and Sid. Or pair back up Mike and Mad Dog.

I think the only way Russo would agree to return to terrestrial radio would be if his satellite radio venture was an abject failure - he's got his own channel named after him ("Mad Dog Radio").

Of course, there are some hosts like Bubba The Love Sponge (and, in the past, Opie & Anthony) that have dabbled their feet in both the satellite and terrestrial radio posts simultaneously, with Bubba actually doing two different shows for both mediums. I would reckon that the only way for that to happen with Chris Russo would be for his "Mad Dog Radio" channel to fold first - with Russo's show absorbed into another one of Sirius' channels (Dino Costa's, too - just to keep Bob Raissman happy) - or perhaps rebrand the "Mad Dog Radio" channel to something else. Because it would look really bad for "Mad Dog" to do a different show on terrestrial radio while a channel named after him on satellite radio is still functioning.

IMHO, Russo burned his bridges at WFAN. If Mad Dog Radio goes defunct, Russo's only chance is perhaps at WEPN, should it move to FM.

Rosenberg teamed with Francesa? Mike and Sid in PM drive? Francesa seems very comfortable working alone. Not sure he'd want to partner with Sid. :)

Sid shuttles back and forth between New York & Miami. He was in New York Thanksgiving week & appeared on Mike's show as well as doing a show on WFAN with Kim Jones on "Black Friday". Also did a show on Sat. November 6 - the next day his wife ran & completed the NYC Marathon: http://www.sidrosenberg.com/. While in New York he was probably in negotiations for this current WINS deal.

Sid hosted some shows in the summer & 1 in March at the FAN, too. He also visited Francesa's show in May to plug his book "You're Wrong And You're Ugly". When he's in New York he does his 3-7pm weekday show for WQAM Miami from a studio at WFAN/CBS Radio.

But normally Sid is in Miami & resides in Boca Raton. He's said in the past he's very happy & settled there with his wife Danielle & 2 young children...but who knows what the future holds?

How is Russo doing over at XM Sirius anyways? As for if Russo ever returned to radio, I don't see why he couldn't work again at WFAN.

Thanks for clearing that up, Paul!

Ken: If it's possible for Sid to return to WFAN, I couldn't see why not for Chris, as well. My point is, it would be for the better if his channel were not functioning on SiriusXM at the same time.

True. They would just pull the plug on that channel I am sure. Not sure who would own the Mad Dog name tho. Hopefully Chris Russo would take it as it is his.
