Sid Rosenberg vs Joe Rose in Mornings

It's Amazing to hear Sid Rosenberg trying to garner ratings points by constantly name dropping Neil Rogers.

Even though he's had a head start to develop his new morning show, do you think his show will be able to beat the new WQAM morning show with Joe Rose and James Jackson.

I was wondering from all of you who do you think will end up as the ratings winner from this new morning show feud?

I like Sid, but he's trying too hard to be Don Imus. He has almost as many "good friends" as Hank Goldberg! My money is on Joe Rose and Jason Jackson in the mornings.

As for Sid dropping the Neil bombs...I know what he thinks he is doing but I can recall a long line of personalities who did the same and it never worked...Joey Reynolds when he was WSHE, Nick <?> Charles at WNWS and of course, Mr Ego. It's was a waste of time because Neil's ratings success have never been about cume, just TSL. These days, his numbers are a fraction of what they used to be. The "get Neil to talk to about me and his cume will tune me in" concept didn't work back in Neil's heyday, even less of a chance to work today. But considering there isn't a real programming person on staff at 790 who understands that. They're operating under the assumption it's a great idea. JUst like no one over there has the guts to tell Joel Feinberg to shut his pie hole, that he sounds like a complete idiot.

That being said, Sid doesn't have to win. He and his station just have to outlast WQAM. I read that Hank may not be offered a new contract. No big deal - he's as much a hindrance as well as a help. No, what eventually kills QAM is the day Neil either retires - or the Beasley's just get sick of him and pay him off...because a station with Neil is a house of cards...the day he goes is the day South Florida hear's the soundof 560 circling down the toilet bowl.

I highly doubt Feinberg will outlast WQAM. He doesn't own the stick so he's making nothing on this deal, losing money. Lincoln Financial is on the block - who knows what the new owners have in store for that signal? They have LeBatard who is interesting but after that, what else? And not that it applies much on this board, but they have almost no sponsors - how many more times are we going to here about that "bee" thing?
Not that QAM doesn't have their problems too - Goldberg has to go but who replaces him? And they need to find younger hosts or they'll lose all their 18-34 audience.

He may not own the stick, but teams are now brokering time from him. Losing the Dolphins is actually a good thing for them. They used it to putthem on the map. Now, their ratings have been good the last 2 books. Better if not as good as QAM. Sales will catch up. If you look at them as compared to other start up stations across the country they're way ahead of the curve. Their lineup will be better from top to bottom b/c QAM's lineup will be in shambles. What happens when Neil finally calls it quits? A post earlier said it best all they have to do is outlast them & they'll win by default.

Not sure if I agree that "sales will come" at WAXY - not if there is no management team or leadership as I've heard. They've turned the entire sales team over several times already. Sorry but good programming with no revenue does not equate to a successful business model. Doubt that they will be able to outlast QAM

Roxy, consider this. QAM isowned by Beaseley, a publially traded company. As such, it can't allow its properties to lose money, or to continually underperform expectations without forcing drastic cuts. There are already indicatons that there have been big cuts with more expected. WAXY is leased by a private entity, one that is backed by millions and millions of privately held money. WAXY doesn't HAVE to good a ledger as WQAM. The only stickholder WAXY has to worry about - for good or for ill - is Joel Feinberg. For all the wrong reasons he may want to just tough it out...and he can. With QAM, which has also had massice TO of their sales staff, they have to produce results or change....in their case "high priced programming with little or no profit does not equae to a successful business model."

It may just be me, but so far I like Jason Jackson and Joe Rose better than Sid. Joe Rose is South Florida to me, and Jason has been a nice addition. Sid really should move back to NYC...I think he's a talent, but he's in the wrong market. He really misses the Mets and the New York Football Giants!

790 is doomed. Between an owner who doesn't have a clue about radio and a GM who's previous gig was that of a board-op (Stugotz), they have no chance. How bad are things over at the Ticket?

Feinberg has been looking for an investor and as of 3 months ago, they were billing a little over $300,000 per month.

QAM is old and boring, but at least they have a business plan and bill...they'll outlast the Ticket easy, just like they've outlasted every other sports station over the years.
