Does anybody know how Rosenberg's show has been doing ratings wise? Based upon zero competition, if he isn't pulling in a huge number than I would consider this a failure. Interesting that the best the 790 can put on is syndicated programing and the Sports Brothers? Are you serious, the Sports Brothers?

They are really not bad at all....good to hear Miami guys against the New York guy. Not sure of the ratings but I've heard Sid's are very mediocre although a little bit better than Colin on 790 and Patrick/Rome on 940. Not a lot of bang for the bucks.

The New York Guy. Hilarious. That's the best description we can come up with?

Since it appears it's the only available nickname, let's take a look at "The New York Guy."

Wednesday of this week, no fewer than six Florida Marlins were guests on his show, with Larry Beinfest and David Samson additionally. How New York is that? Consider that not a single host from the Marlins' flagship was at the first full day of camp in Jupiter, and then, please tell me how that's too New York?

In addition to yesterday, I wonder why it is that the manager of the Marlins and the head coach of the Panthers would rather go on to Sid's show than on any of the shows on their teams' flagship stations?

Also, why is it that there's no concern over where other hosts are from? Joe Rose is a California guy. Jim Mandich is an Ohio guy. Are they excused simply because they're former Dolphins?

Sorry Sid didn't play professional football. But this New York business is getting so old and irritating. Perhaps the "natives of Miami" should start to realize that if it weren't for New Yorkers, there would be no Miami. With all due respect to the other hosts on QAM, I defy anyone to find a better guest list on a daily basis on any sports radio station in this market than what you'll find on Sid's show. If having Chazz Palminteri, Jerry Springer, Steve Goldstein, Bob Scheiffer, a plethora of former NFL players Super Bowl week, Tiki Barber, Peter DeBoer, Fredi Gonzalez and hundreds of others is a bad thing, then perhaps I just don't get it. Because considering the NFL season just ended -- less than a month ago -- there is no excuse whatsoever for a daily discussion on a sport that is more than seven months away from having meaningful games.

Check out the recent guests Sid has had on over the last few weeks. Maybe it will jive a bit more. πhttp://www.youtube.com/user/sidneyrosenberg

Not to sound like a jerk but to go Jon Boog Sciambi on you "Maybe we just don't like him" it's not about him being a New Yorker, it's not that he's untalented, we just don't like him. He has a personality that rubs off the wrong way.

Somehow, I started this post wondering how is numbers are against the competition and it has turned into a Sid bashing. That wasn't the intention of this post. I do think he is talented and does book great guests but unless he is pulling in some huge numbers, I would deem his show a failure. There is absolutely no competition in the market against him so even if he only had an average show, he should still be pulling in good ratings.

As far as his webmasters previous comments above, I am a Miami native and take offense to the fact that there would be no Miami without New Yorkers. We would be doing just fine without the loud, obnoxious opinions that stream from that direction.

Back to the original post, what are Sid's numbers?

Sid averages a 2.1, Dan Patrick gets a 1.8 & Colin Cowheard gets a 1.5

Funny how the long winded reply comes from someone in Sid's employ....the webmaster for sidrosenberg.com. As I said, look at the numbers posted by E.L., mediocre at best and barely beating 2 syndicated shows. It's not all about his "guests".

I agree...Why does he feel it necessary to repeat at least 5 times a show who the guests were that called in...And then he feels the need to ask his underlings a thousand times how great his guests are that called in...Yes, he books good guests but is the self esteem so low that you have to keep repeating how great you and your guests are...Strong successful people don't need to keep patting themselves on the back, they let their body of work do the talking...This guy is a New York wannabe who can't seem to get back into the market for whatever reason so he will bounce from station to station here until he wears out his welcome...

If he had any real competition, he would fall flat on his face but syndicated programming and the Sports Brothers allow him to continue although by the looks of those numbers, he is far from a success...

WQAM is somewhat of a mess, considering it once had the likes of Neil, Hank and Howard Stern.

Tunchwoman, Hockeyfan, etc.

The good news is that now you can tell me how "unimpressed" you are to my face. You are all entitled to your opinion. I stand by the product we provide for the South Florida sports fan. At the risk of sounding brash and arrogant I contend that our show is pretty special. You get Big name guests from many different arenas, diverse topics, comedy, passion, information, bits, and strong opinions every day. We don't take a back seat to ANYBODY in this town and quite frankly we've enjoyed success in markets that 99% of the on-air talent down here couldn't sniff. Those are the facts.

Then there's the geographical bias and the rest of the nonsense that the critics try to throw in our face everyday. It's Mickey Mouse crap.

By the way, feel free to pick up "You're Wrong and You're Ugly" on amazon.com and/or barnes and noble.com today. And after you do start listing the talk show hosts in this town that have had or have careers worthy of a book. The list will be VERY short. Trust me.

Blast away friends!

Chris,

What exactly do you miss? The polls? The constant bashing of Joe Bell? The lame and waste of time phone calls?

I was a HUGE Neil fan in the 90's and I consider him a radio legend. But he stopped being good and relevant a long time ago. My worst show now is significantly better than his best over the last 5 or 6 years.

You don't miss him. You're just narrow minded and very comfortable disliking me.

Peace.

I'm not sure if you're Sid or not. I admire you for doing what I wanted to do when I was younger, i.e. become an On Air Personality. Things just didn't go there and I ended up in Education.

But I agree with Tunchwoman (wonder what "that" means); maybe you suffer from some lack of self esteem. You don't always have to blow your own horn you know. Let the ratings speak for themselves.

It is sid. And ratings mean nothing. Just a popularity contest. Not indicative of the quality of a show.

Mad Men has won back to back best Emmy awards for Best Drama not a lot of people watch it, should Jon Haam criticize America for not watching? 30 Rock has won a couple of times for Best Comedy but not as many people watch that as Two & A Half Men should Alec Baldwin call America dumb for not getting the humor? Sid if you think you do a great show then that's fine but if people in Miami don't like it just accept it as people not liking it not that everyone hates you because you're from New York, we just don't like the show.

I happen to like the show a lot. It's different than anything else on the air here. I've always enjoyed shows that "stirred it up a bit" and created some interest and fun. Sid certainly does that!

E.I.

You don't like the show? I'm afraid to ask you what you DO like. And who you think does a good show.

I don't know how you define a good show when all of Radio, TV, & Movies is subjective, but I'm a big fan of LeBatard & Sedano. And it's not that I don't like your show because I hate you I'm just not a fan you're funny & if I'm in the car between 10 & 2 I might listen but I won't go out of my way to listen, No offense.
