Sid Salter is coming to Supertalk Mississippi

Some of you who enjoy Sid Salter's columns in the Clarion Ledger should be glad to know that he is starting a new talk show on SuperTalk Mississippi. The blog post is below:

New radio gig at SuperTalk FM starts March 2

On March 2, in addition to my regular duties at The Clarion-Ledger, I'm going to launch a new talk radio show on SuperTalk FM's statewide network from 4-6 p.m. Monday-Friday called "On Deadline With Sid Salter."

Sid Salter is going to replace Bill O'Really on Supertalk Mississippi in its 4-6 PM Slot. This will be in addition to his column in the Clarion Ledger. What he hopes to do is to make this radio show an extension of his political column in the Clarion Ledger and blog on Clarionledger.com.

Well,i hate Bill gave radio up but with his schedule,i understand.Savage got canned from supertalk.Maybe they could now position themselves as "average talk" or mediocre talk, cause it sure the hell won't be supertalk.you can only stand so much jt and dave. What about this "MS Red Neck Talk Channel"

There is a little more on Sid Salter's upcoming 4-6 slot at:

I don't know if Dave Ramsey could be replaced. With him on the Fox Business Network I don't know whether everyone can get him on the cable networks around Mississippi.

I enjoyed hearing Sid talk about Howard Cole and WHOC. Howard was one of the last of a breed. The days of the small market AMs as an integral part of their communities was a big part of radio broadcasting's finest hour. Each station was unique. WQBC, WVIM in Vicksburg, WLAU, WAML in Laurel, WAZF in Yazoo City, WDOB, Canton, WDDT Greenville, WFOR, WBKH, WHSY in Hattiesburg -- are just a few of them.

Yes, and a few more: WELO, tupelo...WCBI, columbus,..WABG, Greenwood,
WNLA, Indianola, WCLD, Cleveland, WROX, Clarksdale....and don't forget the first
black station in the Delta...WESY. Leland, and " Rockin' Eddie"...Tnx JBI

The AMs in Jackson...WJDX/NBC, WSLI/ABC, WRBC/Mutual, WJQS/CBS, WJXN IND, WOKJ/IND, WJDX-FM, Biloxi WLOX AM, WVMI AM, Gulport WROA, WGCM,
Hattiesburgh WXXX in the early 60s.

I'm not familiar with Salter's work in the paper, being a Tennessee "Yankee" myself. But the Supertalk out of Corinth is the only Talk station that I can pick up with any clarity. I listen mainly for Dave Ramsey, but I also listen on-line during two hours of his show.

I usually pick up Paul because I don't change the station from the night before. I heard Salter and he sounded decent. I for one will probably listen (if I happen to be in the car from 4-6), as for the "redneck" show. If I hear about "scam-ras" one more time, I think I'll blow a gasket. (We have one in my small Tennessee town. I don't run the red light so it doesn't bother me)

Good Luck Mr. Salter.

Message to Sid:

STOP READING OFF A PIECE OF PAPER!

I heard the show yesterday after Dave Ramsey and gave it a listen and… Reading from a blog post is not going to cut it, Sid. I don't know if the rest of the show was engaging and interesting because I couldn't stand the monotone r.e.a.d.i.n.g. e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.ng. a.t. a. b.o.r.i.n.g. p.a.c.e. and had to tune out.

You get a pass because you're new at this, and that's okay. But for the love of God try to make things inneresting! ;D
