Siga Broadcasting

ok so my good freind mr gabriel arango who owns kgbc.klvl.ktmr has just purchasted a station in the dallas forth worth market its 860am currently running a tejano format. Take not that he currently has all his stations involved with the kgow 1560 project could the 1560 format soon be in dallas??

KFJZ/Fort Worth is on 870am, not 860. Also, what affiliation does KGBC/Galveston or KTMR/Edna have with KGOW? Only KLVL/Pasadena broadcasts The Game's overnight programs, or so I thought.

ktmr is not involved but kgbc is since kgcb could complain about the power increase that 1560 was applying for! The guy who currently owns 1560 also has control of 1540 and 1480 ktmr is doing its own thing but not doing to well! I'm really wondering what siga will put on their new dallas station!

That tejano format has long been gone. The only Tejano They have over there is on hd 2, and Saturdays mornings on 88.1 fm.

I'm a bit confused here. In your initial post you state that "all his stations are involved with the KGOW 1560 project", now you say that KTMR is not involved with them at all. KGBC/Galveston has been leased by "Hum Tum City" since they abandoned KJOJ/Conroe and Liberman respectively about 6 months ago. I have never heard any simulcast between KGBC and KGOW at any point thus far. As far as KGBC complaining about the 1560 power increase (if it ever finally happens) it wouldn't make much since considering David Gow is currently leasing nighttime facilities from Mr. Arango for the KGOW/KLVL simulcast. The only formal objection on file with the FCC regarding this upgrade is with KMIC/Houston and WQEW/New York, both Radio Disney affiliates. Also, they are both objecting to KGOW's proposal for 19kw of nighttime power, not the already approved 50kw daytime. Back to Siga Broadcasting's involvement with Gow Communications, to me it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to bite the hand that's feeding you, so to speak. Since when does David Gow have "control" of 1540, or 1480 for that matter? One is leased, the other is brokered. Both are wholly owned and therefore controlled by Siga Broadcasting, i.e. Gabriel Arango. You know, for someone that prides themself on having the scoop on so many things, you certainly don't do yourself any favors or garner any creditability with such obviously incorrect information such as this. BTW, KTMR/Edna is at 1130. Not 1480.

Mrtexmex, thank you for the information regarding the Tejano format in D/FW. I didn't realize that KJON had abandoned the Tejano format along with KFJZ. When did the Guadalupe Radio Network take over 850?

A few years ago i was involved with the purchase of Kgbc and i remember the back then Owners (Cant recall theirs names but they have a few investments in galviston)Mentioned that they would do what ever it took to keep 1560 from getting their 50,000 watts! On the Other hand i ment to say all of his Houston stations Ktmr is in victoria texas! KLVL is under the control of the same ppl who have KGOW but they have chosen to resell the time to the ppl who had spanish christian programming on 1560 before... the rest of the Programmers(ppl who buy air time) are scatterd between 1460 who they also have control of and 1540 Kgbc.. I dont think i need to prove myself i know these ppl like Mr Arrango personaly and have been in buisnes with him for many many years.

agreed, seems the whole format is dying these days.
Don't tell that to the people in San Antonio. KXTN consistently ranks in the top 10 in 12+.

Omega, again KTMR is in Edna. It is not licensed to Victoria. Technical, sure, but your blatant disregard for the true community of license for the station, shows exactly what is wrong with broadcasting today. Same problem holds true where I'm from in Bellville. We have one station licensed to us, and if you even hear a commercial for a business in Bellville on KNUZ you're doing better than me. While the owners back then may have wanted to stop then KILE from obtaining the 50kw permit, it obviously didn't work as the FCC has granted the license and one day KGOW might actually transmit that amount of power. It obviously isn't going to happen today, and tomorrow's not looking so good either, but that's another story all to itself. I still don't understand your logic with regards to David Gow controlling KLVL, because if he did 1560 The Game would become 1480 The Game pretty darn quickly I would imagine. KLVL has a pretty decent daytime signal over most of Houston, so I don't buy it. Why struggle with advertisers not getting the bang for their buck, listeners running away in droves, and an overall dismal outlook over a signal that isn't getting any better when you have another option such as KLVL on the table. Again, I just ain't buying it. You have nothing to prove to me, you are right. I have already made my judgement from your postings and you've already proven what you are all about to me.

Ok its very easy to prove!! call KLVL and tell them you want to buy time for the weekend to host your on radio show and see who you have to buy the time from!! I dare you to prove me wrong!

Fair enough. I have contacted KLVL via e-mail and am awaiting their response.

ask for william rivas [email protected] he is the pastor incharge of the spanish christian programming mon-fri and let him know your also interested in KBRZ AND KGOW he will be able to inform you that KGOW KBRZ AND KGOW are part of the same group!

ok so its been a few days and i yet to hear back from mr purpledevil! Im not a wana bee radio guy i'm not a guy looking from the outside window im part of what happens in Houston radio so just goes to show!!

What it goes to show is that the e-mail you provided has gotten me no response, nor has their general e-mail that I originally sent them responded either. Since you know so many people over at Siga, do them a favor, tell them when someone inquires about purchasing time from them they might want to get in touch with their "perspective client" in the first day or so. They may stand a chance at making something called....wait for it....a sale! Trust me, with the way radio is being run by people such as yourself I have absolutely no desire whatsoever in entering the radio business, so you're "wanna be" (correct spelling, BTW) comment is inaccurate. However, I'll be damned if you consultants take away my passion for the industry. By the way, since we're calling each other out now...what happened to the name change for KLOL that you specifically came to Houston to "oversee"? It was such a secret that you couldn't release the new name....so much so, it looks like the station didn't even release it. Was it the change from one oh one to ciento uno? Hardly groundbreaking. David Eduardo has you pegged to the tee. A hot air balloon has nothing on you.

Siga seems to answer my emails just fine I'm sure you can call them up a phone call is a lot more personal then email. About the mega change we were working on the name Viva but at the last minute the top dog decided it be smarter to keep mega since it was also a work that could be understood by spanish speak ppl hmmmm your gona call me out? I was the one to say a new morning show was comming when bo still had a job in the mornings! David E has a lot of info and he works for univision but does he really make decisions noooooo! Why can't we all just get along lol ! Look purpledevil I love radio as much as you do and I don't think you can blame me for sharing my knowledge and you won't ever see me leaving a comment of what goes one somwhere that I have not idea about.

I'd like to get along with everyone here, it's just that some of the things you say on these boards absolutely floor me. You did indeed say there was going to be a morning show change. I give you that. I also give you a couple of other things that you have said that...well...prove my point.

411 My best wishes to you man it sucks that you were let go because your a really good dj and have been around in the Houston airwaves for a while now! And just to make it clear i never said i was in the inside..
And Romer979fm ive been in radio for over 11 years bro ive worked with more then 20 station and i would put some money on it that if you compare your numbers to my numbers you would come out loosing big time!!

You just now did. "I'm a part of what happens in Houston radio, so just goes to show!". You just typed that you are on the inside, but 10 days ago you told the boards you were not. Hmmm.

Quoted from July 25th... http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,77046.0.html
"the jocks will soon be let go and another team will come on board.... Mega wont be Mega for long! and you can quote me on that!!"

Uh...it's still Mega. Now, you stated above that it was changed by "the top dog", but what does that make you look like? Look how you wrote that! It makes you look like you are the one making all of this happen.

And again.... http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,79405.20.html
nope sorry the station will not be called rumba but the name will change! and the slogan will be .....tan joven como tu!

Could it be that "the top dog" has read all of these same articles as we have, and decided against changing the name because you couldn't remain professional enough to keep insider information on the inside?

I am sure you consult many stations for Clear Channel. I'm positive that you have your hand in many cookie jars, my point is that you consistently post material in which your mouth writes checks that your rear end can't get cashed. I'm sure you are a decent person, maybe just looking to be of more importance than you truly are. I won't call you out any further, as it's childish and I just don't see the worth in it all.

hmmmm.... ok will I take it if that's all I can get lol! yeah I am in the inside but at that point I had never said I was! Well their is a few ppl over me when it comes to changes in format and I can't help it if we record the new image sent bumper stickers to be made and then theirs a change of heart! I'm gona keep my mouth shut from now on so don't worry! Have a great weekend!!
