Sightings Of Atomic Clock

I was listening to Chicago Latvian Hour on WSBC, last Monday between 7:00 and 8:00 PM. Throughout much of the program, I heard ticking sounds. The program was listenable, but in the background. The slop underneath was inaudible (one good thing)I noticed the same thing as I was flipping around the dial the following morning. Around 5:30 AM, WCPT 820 AM had the ticking sounds as well. What could be the reason for those two occurrences?

Might be something local, even in your own home.
I hear a "Deedle, Deedle, Deedle" in the background of several stations...I've heard that it is characteristic of a battery charger.

I wonder if it was Radio Reloj from Cuba?
They are on many frequencies and have a distinctive clock tick sound. At the top of each minute is a high pitched R R sent in Morse code ( dit-dah-dit dit-dah-dit ) Reloj can be heard here in New York State quite loud on 570kHz during the colder months. The audio (other than the clock ticks) are much lower in level. It is usually a male and female reading news stories, alternating at the top of each minute.

Cuba is your likely culprit. those ticks on Reloj cut through the audio slop like you wouldnt believe. Reloj shows up on soooo many frequencies

Check the eighth entry: Villa Clara 570 30[kw]
