Sign of things to come for 103.7?

I wouldn't read too much into this. WNNF is a viable, full-market signal capable of potentially generating higher ratings and revenue with a different format. KHJK is not a viable, full-market signal and never will be, short of a major overhaul of FCC rules.
 
Cumulus can't be happy with the extremely low numbers for the current 103.7 format. While this facility will never be a ratings monster, there has to be something that will do better.

I wouldn't count out changes on KHJK in the near future.
 
Doesn't matter what format 103-7 uses. Targetting wrong market, run by wrong operator. Mark my words, the only change that will come to 103-7 is the language spoken there.

Since rage brought this up, I've noticed recently that Cumulus has been promoting the 104.1 HD-2 signal for 103-7 a bit more heavily. Take that for what it's worth.
 
I don't know. The eastern rimshots seem pretty hopeless to me. KHJK only gets a 70dBu as far west as Deer Park and Channelview and it drops from there. That's not really viable. Furthermore, the eastern areas of the market where the signal is competitive are either sparsely populated or have undesirable demographics or both.

The cume for KHJK looks a lot stronger than the AQH, which is likely a sign that not much listening takes place outside of in-car due to the poor signal.
 
Im sorry, but no matter where the stick is at for this frequency, we don't need another umpteenth spanish station around here, point blank.
 
I'm a little more open-minded when it comes to formats, in that I think that theoretically, at least, the market should decide that question. What we really need is a more realistic approach to mileage separation between FM stations, starting at the top with 100,000 watt Class C stations. Despite the changes made possible by Docket 80-90 more than two decades ago the FCC is still using virtually the same separation between stations of equal class, even though it has been demonstrated that the issue of second-adjacent channel interference isn't that much of a concern. And while they're at it the ridiculous notion of stations providing a "first service" to some miniscule community of license needs to be scrapped once and for all. Until something like that happens stations like KHJK and hundreds of other rim-shots like it around the country will continue to be little more than scrap metal.
