Signal from the satellite seems weaker than normal.

Has anyone noticed a weakening of the Sirius signal as of late? Over the past week or so, the most signal I was able to get from the satellite is 2 out of 3 bars. However, within the coverage area of the terrestrial repeaters (in Boston, MA and Providence), I get a full "three bar" signal. Are they trying to conserve power (extending the life span of the satellite) on the birds by notching the transponder power down a few dB's? I'm curious........

Actually the opposite, I am getting all bars on Sirius today at home, the strongest Ive seen it ever. Also, I am able to keep the signal when I go under a overhang or bridge much better too.

I get a all ten bars also. Worst case, your antenna may be getting ready to bite the dust.Or It may be a simple loose connection or moisture problem.

I live north of Boston and have noticed a weaker signal too...in fact a loss of signal in certain areas where it did not happen before.

5:30 AM and I have a full 3 Bar signal right now. I'm looking at it. No problems with reception here in the Providence burbs. I always have more satellite bars than repeater bars. So I guess that means I'm always getting the direct satellite signal.

By the way.... I have my antenna indoors in the corner of a bedroom with only a north facing window. So It's a miracle to me how I even get a signal. I guess the antenna doesn't have to be directly line of site like it does for satellite TV. If you saw my setup you wouldn't believe that I even get a signal. It looks like I shouldn't. But I definitely do. A very reliable one too. It never goes out anymore either since they turned on the new satellite about 6 months ago.

I am also having trouble as well. That is why that when February 13 th gets here, I will be done with XM/Sirius radio. Bad signal, bad music, and I am NOT paying royalty fees on the music. I can get that free on FM or us my MP# or listen to ESPN.

Believe me, the MP3 player provides much better playlists, commercial-free music and none of the reception issues the FM quality SiriusXM has.

Stern is the main reason I have Sirius. I don't even really listen to the other channels. Once in a great while. Not much though. The thing sits in my house because of Howard. That is the honest truth.

I have got news for you... the playlists are not all the same. The classic rock channels playlists are deeper than any classic rock terrestrial radio in Phoenix, or most other larger markets I have been to. There is no classic 60s and 70s soul channel in my city- nothing close to Soul Town, the oldies channels (50s, 60, & 70s ) play hundreds of more song titles than any classic hits/oldies free stations in most places. Most "oldies' stations play 300-500 titles, SiriusXm 50s has a playlist of 1500, 60s of 1100 and 70s of 1000, add them together (over 3600 songs) and see what you get. There is no format like The Bridge in Phoenix (soft classic rock), we dont have and Urban Contemporary station like Heart & Soul, most cities do not have a Funk & R&B station (70s and 80s) like The Groove... I'll match your playlists against SXM. Does your oldies 60s channel play the Lovin Kind or I'm A Fool by Dino Desi & Billy, Sunshine Girl by the Parade, California Nights by Lesley Gore, the Oogum Boogum Song by Brenton Wood? I rather doubt it. I'll take my commercial free playlists and formats over yours, thanks. ;D

It only works if you can pick up the feed clearly. I have 2 radios and the feed is terrible, it drops out all the time. I can't see paying for a feed you can't pick up.

I have had both services for over 8 years, never had a problem with the "feed" or dropouts, and apparently neither do 19 million other subscribers.....tell your Clear Channel bosses how much you enjoy their programming, quality and depth. :D

My signal used to drop out a lot. But they launched a new satellite over the summer and now I never lose the signal anymore. Thank GOD! I used to threaten to cancel my service every other month because of signal problems.

Anyone getting dropouts:
Make sure your antenna is on the roof not the trunk, not in the window, not sideways, under your seat.
I have a SL2 that gets thrown from house to car to work vehicle and have no issues at all
The SL2 is the portable Sirius radio. My antenna is on the roof.So theres your proof.I am in North NJ and travel with it from north to south. So if you are having problems, its probably the install....
