Signal Getting Worse

OKI've had Sirius since the first week in March. Same receiver, same antenna, same position on the car. First 3 weeks were OK. As the leaves started to come in, some side streets had the occasional signal loss... no biggie, I used it on the main expressway to and from work everyday. Now, almost 3 months later, I have dropouts up and down the expressway to and from work. It drops out under overpasses that used to be no problem when I installed the system. Very annoying to listen to. :mad:Any ideas? The radio is the el-cheapo DEI SV1. Are there known problems with this radio?

Alright it's a shot in the dark, but is your antenna mounted on top of the car? The next thing to look at is if there's a luggage rack on the car roof make sure that the bar that goes across is at least about six inches away from the antenna. The satellites are not always straight up in the sky, so the clearer view of the sky the antenna sees, the better the signal should be. Hope this makes sense. It also helps to be near one of the terrestrial repeaters.

My bet is a defective radio. I have that big ol Sanyo radio Wal-Mart used to sell. The first one crapped out in less than two months but the new one has worked nicely since then (about 18 months). However, since I got THAT radio, I've had to replace the car antenna twice. Replacement antennas are about 40 bucks at Best Buy or online (If THIS antenna craps out, I'm just going to buy the little visor radio, since it costs about 45 bucks).Ape.

Dont know where you live but if it was not your radio there would be more noise. Buy a new radio. Startmate is under a 100 and I know its better then the sportster.
