Silence

All Apex and Clear Channel Stations (except 100.5) in Charleston went silent at 12:06am. WQBT 94.1 The Beat from Savannah came in crystal clear during the time Newsradio 94.3 was off.

The Steve-FM silence must be an STL audio delivery issue. The RDS was still scrolling the songs as the Prophet was playing them. I guess so that you could keep up with what you are missing...

During the really bad storms awhile back, WLTY had the same issue.

I haven't looked at the transmitter maps, but if they are on the same stick or nearby, they'd have to power down/off for RF safety reasons if there is maintenance being done in the near field.

Both the Clear Channel and the Apex transmitters are located at the Clear Channel Antenna Farm in Mount Pleasant.
