Silent LPFMs should be required to go to auction after a year

Not at all. Specific stations that are doing this should be called out (both here and with the FCC). However, placing all LPFM stations together (i.e. the service in general), including the good stations with a broad brush as being a bunch of lawbreakers and should be denied rights, privileges and a future as a whole. That is bashing the service.
No. No it isn't.

Fixing problems that clearly exist through further regulation is not bashing anything. Yes, the good guys endure costs to meet the regulation, but if the regulation is well written it improves the whole market place.

I am just getting over covid and it has left my wife and me in a bad way. I began broadcasting more than 60 years ago . I chose this profession because it was FUN and I loved radio and entertaining people. I will be retiring soon if I'm not dead first. I met many good people in radio and I will think of them. I will be damned before I will appoint myself as some kind of radio cop. Those who became so bitter in this field. I'm sorry for you.. For me it was FUN. That's right, more than 60 years of it.

Sorry you've been dealing with health issues. Hope your wife and you feel better soon.
Suffice it to say; everything changes, and some people find change harder than others. As the way people consume media has changed over the years, media and entertainment providers need to evolve with the times. Being angry or sad that something they enjoyed over the years has changed is a natural emotion, but ultimately not anyone's fault.
