Silicon Valley To Get Hurban?

Could Channel 104-9 flip? If that happened, KUFX could move to a classic-leaning mainstream rocker and leave The Bone alone on 107.7, the signal that targets a very clearer signal in Silicon Valley. And then we could send Live 105 to the stronger 106.9 signal, so country would return on the weaker 105.3 signal. San Jose's got 2 classic rockers already, one on 98.5, the other on 107.7!

It's all 'cuz now NYC & LA have got hurbans now.
Edited by PassDutch on 06/14/05 04:45 PM.

They would cannibalize themselves by doing that. Doesn't make a lot of sense. Plus the changes you are talking about affect three companies. And why would Infinity want to go back to Country when it failed for them on 93.3?

The only thing that makes sense is for Infinity to put a Hurban on one of their signals - either an existing one or 106.9.

CC has the rock audience by having 104.9 and KUFX. No need to mess with it.

What the heck is 'Hurban'?

Country music for city folks. H (= Hillbilly) + Urban.

{Kidding!}

It's radio shorthand for Hispanic Urban, "targetting Latinos and mixing Reggaeton, hip-hop, and dance music in Spanish and English."

Is this true?/ It's great!

Im not really sure how that would work. Channel 104.9 is a pretty good alternative station with a great south bay signal. But I would love to see another good rock station similar to the old KSJO. The Bone really isn't much of a player in the south bay area because of its weak signal. I say the heck with Hurban--the south bay now has PLENTY of clear spanish stations. I would MUCH rather see Channel 104.9 distance it self further from Live 105 and play more of a 99.5 KISS San Antonio format.

Neither the NY nor the LA stations play any dance. All reggaetón and hip hop.

KUFX wont be touched. It's a cash cow for CC San Jose. Plus it ratings do fine. Channel is not a liability for CC San Jose however, their kicking ass against Live 105 in San Jose.

Channel does a little more hard edge stuff at night, like with Kat's show and even some stuff on the late night. CC San Jose found out that some of the old KSJO listeners listen to Channel. So a while ago, Channel decided to test out some hard stuff like Metallica on the over night shifts. I cant see Channel switching to your Hurban format. It wouldn't make since. Their main audience are "sensative males".

And in the case of 105.9 La Calle in NYC, it seems like almost all reggaeton. Not that I'm complaining personally...

Re: CC already has a 'Hurban'

KYLD IS HURBAN! Why would Clear Channel want to compete with thier own station? Look at Wild's playlist...

Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Baby Bash, Lil Rob, N.O.R.E.... should I go on? If that's not Hurban... what the heck is?
