Simian help.. Or is it, Simian HELP!

BSI tutorial guys are over my feeble head.. Between and hour or two and I can't use it.. HELP.. Old owners did not pay for the support plan.. I must have it down by January first to go satellite sports feed... Anybody have simple instructions to put spots, news, sports, weather and psa's in and then let it run... I am streesed to the point of running away and hiding.... I don't wan't the space shuttle controls! I want a Ford or Chevy to drive....

[email protected] "Skipper T." in Tennessee.....

The Simian is a Chevy - it'll get you there but you have to know how to drive (you won't learn any automation system in an hour). The manual is under the "help" dropdown. Assuming everything is connected as it should be, you should be able to get it under control in a few days. The is also a user forum that can be a lot of help:

THANKS.. I have an old radio buddy coming down over his college teaching Christmas break to help.. He used it in three places.. I just had the fortune of being in LIVE radio all my career, with the exception of I-tuning an LPFM on a weekly clock of 13 hours per module...

Understand that you will need the additional hardware to work with the satellite feed---

1. A device to respond to the triggers or net cues coming from the satellite receiver;

2. A device to interrupt the satellite audio while you run local content. If you have BSI's suggested brand of sound card--Audio Science, you can do this just using the ASI mixer as control by Simian by running the satellite audio through the sound card.

The challenging aspect is to get Simian to talk with the devices, especially one controlled through the serial port. .Once you have these two elements mastered, the rest is much easier

Skip,

You really need a Broadcast Tools device to capture tones and switch audio on and off. there is a way to run audio through the pots on Simian but involves going in the computer. there is a way to run inputs to a joystick input on a computer. This said the BT 8 channel input toy works best.

A log for a break could be as easy as:

Break macro that starts series of events on trigger +Break
Mute Stardust (cart) +Mute Channel 1
Cart with 5 minutes of stuff (spotx5) +Commercial Break
Un mute Stardust after break +Unmute Channel 1

Build carts for mute and un mute
Use a single cart for a 5 min break or schedule everything. either way all spots will appear as carts in event viewer.

make sure that logs chain to next log day.

Keep triggers on. (Liners)

Thanks Chief... I will copy these notes when my friend gets here.. I bought the $399.00 remote control from BSI prior to getting here... Looking this morning to having a second computer go into the phone pot on the RS Board and run Skype for remotes/sports events from my laptop at the gym or remote... You guys are so helpful.... I will let all know what's up with the move to the sports net... "Skip"
