Simmons To Bring ESPN Deportes To Austin

From All Access:

Simmons To Bring ESPN Deportes To Austin

KWNX SIMMONS MEDIA GROUP plans to split up the simulcast of Sports KWNX-A and KZNX-A (ESPN 1260)/AUSTIN and take the KWNX signal to Spanish Sports using ESPN DEPORTES.

The flip will take place in late SUMMER and the Anglo version of ESPN will continue on KZNX's 1530 AM frequency. The station is streaming ESPN DEPORTES at its web site as a prelude to the flip.

So Austin English-only speakers north of the river can just about forget about ESPN radio, eh?

At night, yes. It would seem, though, that the 1530 signal would do a better job than 1260 of reaching heavily Hispanic areas of Austin.

There's always KZNE 1150 in College Station. It comes in just fine in San Antonio most nights, so I assume it should be audible in Austin, since you're 80 miles closer. I find it to be a great alternative to Fox Sports Radio on Ticket 760.

Just in time, it would seem, to take clear advantage of copa mundial
this summer. However, many followers are team centric. I wonder if they plan on shifting some of it's programming
content, because i'm not entirely convinced that spanish dominant listeners
in Austin follow much if any american sports. Unless, it's fútbol focused.
