Zap 2 It.com reports tat for the second night in a row, "American Idol 5" handily beat NBC's Winter Olympics coverage in head-to-head ratings last night (February 15th), and by an even bigger margin than on Tuesday.

NBC's Olympcs coverage did lead the ratings for the rest of the evening (9-11:30 P.M. ET/PT), but won the 9-10 P.M. ET hour over Fox's "House" by a narrow margin in overall viewers ("House" did in-fact nose-out the Olympics in young-adult demographics).

It should be noted that last night, there was no Olympic figure-skating competition.

The way things are going, "Survivor" and "Dancing With The Stars" could give NBC's Olympic coverage serious competition in the ratings tonight (February 16th). But the "long program" in men's figure-skating will be shown by NBC tonight, and an American skater (Johnny Weir) has a good chance to win a medal, and an outside chance of winning the gold.

And as has been noted before, the women's figure-skating competition next Tuesday (the "short program") and Thursday (the "long program"), which usually gets the best ratings of any event at the Winter Games, will have to face "Idol" this time around.
