Simon Cowell's "Idol" Replacement: Chris Isaak?

According to sources, he's the leader in the clubhouse to be the new judge on "American Idol":

Also in the mix are Harry Connick, Jr. and even Donald Trump.

Don't they need somebody mean and rude to keep the chemistry and balance going? I've always thought a good percentage of the audience tunes in to see the embarrassingly bad acts ridiculed, and that works best if there's a judge who trashes them...not just pities them.

They can't have all nice judges. Neither Isaak or Connick fit into the mean and rude category - I doubt it's in their natures. Connick is a decent actor - I've seen him play mean guys, but he'd have to "act" the mean part, and that wouldn't work.

Trump has the mean and rude thing down pat, though it's somewhat tongue-in-cheek in his case. But I don't think he has much credibility as a judge of talent...outside the business world, of course.

I'd bet that none of those 3 will be chosen.

Connick is a great entertainer, and showed his comic prowess in Will & Grace. Don't think he needs to lower himself to a judge on a reality show. Come on, Harry, you can do better!
