Simon, Globe on success of Scott/ Lost 45s

Just when I thought Clea Simon finally wrote a competent article on radio with completely correct information... she drops this bomb at the bottom:

"Chris Hillman is staying at WAAF-FM (107.3). The host of the 5:30-10 a.m. weekday "Hill-Man Morning Show" and the station have announced a new five-year deal continuing an 18-year relationship."

Uhh... last I checked, Chris Hillman was a founding member of the Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers.

Try Greg Hill.

Agreed, he has done a fine job over the years.

Probably right too about age 11-college age being one's formative music years, for me it was ages 12-15, and some research I did a while back for something else seems to back that up.

Just wondering, has the show ever been on at a time other than Sunday nights? If anyone who's been around longer than I have knows, thanks in advance.

I guess we know what Greg will be talking about on Monday morning.

I didn't notice that bit about "Hillman" but you're right! He refers to himself as the "Hill-man"
(no, not Reed Hillman, Muffy Healey's running mate either), but is not Hillman nor Chris.

Actually Michael Clarke and Gene Clark are the dead Byrds. They were not killed with one stone though... (ouch.)

I interviewed Chris Hillman (by telephone) on my show on WMBR this past summer. He's very much alive and well.

He and Herb Pedersen did a great show at The Paradise a few months ago, mixing music from his entire career with his newer bluegrass/country-rock style material. They also just played last month at the Bull Run in Shirley, MA.

If I remember correctly -- and that's a big if ;D -- the Lost 45's has always been on Sunday nights, going back to the early days at WZLX. I was interning there around the time it started.

Thanks for the reply.

Makes sense, seems like the show is something that would work best on Sunday nights - Fridays and Saturdays seem to be more for a "party" atmosphere.
