Sunday's episode of The Simpsons will feature the trailer for the new movie that is coming out next summer. Apparently there is a very short teaser for it during the previews of "Ice Age 2" as well.

As I understand it's only going to be the same trailer that's being shown with Ice Age 2.

That said, I don't believe we'll be seeing anything from the movie as of yet. Also, anyone's guess as to whether or not the movie will signal the end of the Simpsons' long TV run?

I had always heard that after FOX decided to drop The Simpsons, then they would bring out the movie....personally, I think that as long as FOX wants The Simpsons and Matt and Co. want to do it (and they do), The Simpsons will always be on the air.

The movie, though, is going to be awesome.......I HOPE!

Just because a movie of a current running tv show doesn't mean it will end, just look at "South Park". They did a Theatrical Movie back in 1999, and they are still going strong on tv.

Keep in mind that South Park wasn't (and still isn't) on the air for the better part of 20 years.

What Other Long Running Show became a Theatrical Movie?

True, but I'm curious what other LONG RUNNING TV SHOW became a Theatrical Movie just BEFORE the tv show went off the air?:)

The X-Files? It lasted 3 or 4 more seasons after that, though.

The Simpsons will definitely continue for at least one season after this movie comes out anyway, since it's been renewed for 2007-08 already.

You are right, not as long running like Simpsons but it had a long run at 9 years.Like you said The X Files had a movie but during its 5th year on television and again like you said it continued for 4 more years. Just because they are doing a movie for the big screen, it doesn't mean it will leave the small screen anytime soon.

Again you are right, The Simpsons is not leaving the air just because there is a big screen version.

Don't forget Beavis and Butthead Do America.

Not exactly Long Running(4 years total 1993-97), however that show is a perfect example of doing a feature length theatrical movie(1996), before being cancelled ,albeit for a short running show.
