Simpsons Reruns

I sometimes watch reruns of The Simpsons on WCCT-TV 20 out of Waterbury, CT. I have noticed that the characters have a green tint to them. Is anyone else nationwide having this problem or is there an issue with WCCT or COX cable? The problem is on both the SD (Channel 11) and the HD Feed (Channel 1011). I have not noticed this problem with the new episodes that air Sundays on their sister station WTIC-TV.

Haven't noticed a tint problem. But it absolutely drives me crazy that they basically show the same 25 episodes over and over -- I've seen the robots episode, and "Stradivarius Cain" and several others from last season at least 6 times this month. What's the point of doing that when there are so many classic episodes from 22 seasons? They only trot out classics for sweeps and they show some "Treehouse of Horror" shows the week before Halloween.

I had a whole other topic about this, but the only thing I've noticed is that the episodes from seasons where the opening credits start with vandalism of the Jebediah Springfield were wide-screen with letterboxing, while the older ones were what someone on this site called "postage stamp". Now even those newer ones are full-screen, cut off on the left and right.

The probably think the newer episodes will get the best ratings. Isn't it up to the stations when, what, how much the episodes air? KOMU in Columbia only hours Simpsons reruns once a week on Sundays, while KMCI in Kansas City airs them M-F in the evening after Family Guy reruns, I don't know what episodes they air since I don't watched the cut up episodes

Global in Canada has a bad habit of fixating on episodes from the 1994-95 season. There were some good episodes in that season, but one can only watch Two Dozen and One Greyhounds two dozen and one times before getting sick of the See My Vest song.

There are stations (especially those few that the corporate overlords haven't gotten to their master control and 'upgraded' them to both HD and having their schedule brought in from headquarters distant) that operate under the grey and keep a bunch of episodes in their tape library so they're looping through off-run episodes not in 20th's current authorized run; I know WCGV in Milwaukee was finally able to get in some old seasons after multiple complaints about being stuck with post season 20 episodes from 20th Television (they used to be very liberal with their episode runs until a flood a couple years ago meant they seemed to get stuck with distant master controls after the rebuild). But with everything being central-casted these days, especially from Nexstar and Sinclair, it's more likely their stuck with what 20th wants out there. Also, it's incredibly easy for 20th these days just by simple listing checks to make sure the affiliates are running the right eps.

It's one thing for Fox to keep reruns of "The Simpsons" from running on cable. The least they could do is run reruns on the "My" affiliates in the markets where they operate a duopoly.

Houston's FOX O&O has the same problem. I've seen "Simpsons go to NYC to get their car back" (honestly don't know the episode title) popping up, on average, once a month for the last year during one of the two daily airings the station runs.

Weird. The commercials preceding the episode are letterboxed. The episode fills the screen. And they are Treehouse of Horror episodes this week, not Christmas episodes.

Part of it, I think, is the older seasons are getting pretty cheap on DVDs.

I saw the DVD sets on sale this season. Seasons 1 through 10 were only $6.99 per season. That's pretty cheap.

Isn't that the episode where (insert random celebrity name here) has a cameo? ::)

Since this is an old episode, they still didn't need to invite celebrities every week to deliver the most inane and rushed lines ever, so no ;D

I'm still amazed at how long "The Simpsons" have lasted in the first place! I can still remember when they were a very SMALL part of the long-defunct "Tracy Ullman Show".

In a perfect world...reruns of a show would be done in "sequential order"...Season 1, Episode 1, Episode 2, etc. Imagine how LONG that would take to cycle through?

I assume there are fans out there of other long-running shows like "Bonanza" or "Gunsmoke" who have similar complaints about how the episodes are shown.

It would take about a year to go through the entire "The Simpsons" library with two episodes a day, Monday to Friday.

It stinks that these episodes aren't on streaming, and the only way to watch them is via DVD.

"The Simpsons" library could have its own streaming service really.

The Simpsons stands out for having little continuity, which allows for them to avoid the sequential order. Yes, characters do come and go.

Another negative is you have to put up with how slow Fox releases the season sets. One of the main reasons behind the slow release is because they record commentaries for every episode in that season. Well, I know for sure they did for the first ten sets. I lost interest in getting the dvds when the eleventh set was released.

Is current Simpsons deal barter or cash? It was cash when this site was last updated, do syndicated reruns with cash deals have any mandates over what and when episodes are shown? The seems to be inconsistencies with Homer and Bart in each market, it's on 3 times a day in some places but only once a week in some places (besides Sundays on Fox)

"The Simpsons" is still syndicated on an all-cash basis.

Most syndicators offer multiple packages of any given show. For example, I understand that "Scrubs" is available in 1, 2 and 5 hour weekly packages. The Simpsons is likely the same way.
