Simulated "Cyber Internet Terrorist Attack"

Simulated "Cyber Internet Terrorist Attack" yes that was what was heard over the air this past Sunday on WGUL AM 860 during the SOS Computer show. But what most people didn't hear was the word SIMULATED ie FAKE!! Yet the according to Sean O, Host of The SOS Computer Talk Show. He says on his Facebook page, he has received "nasty phone calls some are even threaten me with Bodily harm.. someone came into my store and threatend me...I called the police and had them removed. Then I was riding my bike down to 7 eleven for coffee and a snack and got egged from a car yelling SOS Stinks!" As for Management, according to Sean O's Facebook page the OM & GSM approved the stunt!

I heard the SIMULATED attack but tuned in I guess half way through. I called home and had wife disconnect computer. I called friend in NYC and one in PHIL and told them about it and to unplug. I think not only should they lose the show, but should be arrested and charged. I am going to look into it. I would think you need to say its simulated every XX number of minutes? I listened for probably 15-20 and did not hear a disclaimer.

Anyone roll tape of what it sounded like? I don't know what to listen for in the event of an actual cyber terrorism emergency.

Well guess what? It provided enough fuel to get people actuallly TALKING about WGUL! I must have been good. These days that makes radio relevant..as for a cyber attack..we'll know when it happens because every radio station in the world uses computers to provide programming, adjust transmitters..schedule music and spots..We'll know when it's real.

The other obvious isicatsion is thas the "s" ksy wsll gst stuck so badlsley that almsost all wosds wils hass "S" is tss. Stss, aa ssssss s ssssssss sss s sssss.

Yes, extremely so. If on a station or show with listeners, there would most likely be a fine, I would think. It was just so stupid to do, and the computer guy cant use OH IT CAN HAPPEN WE ARE JUST TRYING TO PREPARE YOU. What, prepare 3 people like myself who accidentally tuned in?

Even if there was a cyber "terrorist" attack, it's not like someone can willy-nilly get into your computer and hack your bank records and porn collection. You people watch too much TV.

Over-react much? Geez.

Good thing you weren't around when Orson Welles was on the radio.

Adam Ant obviously didn't hear about what happened through much of St Pete right through their bright house internet. Check on it, Adam, then tell me Im paranoid you nitwit

Please explain exactly what [IS] cyber-terrorism as it relates to the content of this thread? And, how has anyone been harmed as a result of the cyber-terrorism stunt aired on WGUL?

It caused a few of the less intelligent people to foul their underwear. They thereby had to go to Wal-Mart and procure some new Underoos. They were not smart enough to figure out that they could have turned them inside out and could have worn them another week.

If a natural or terrorist disaster occured, isn't radio the last place you'd get the warning?

If you weren't listening to the program AT THE TIME the hoax was pulled, do not comment.

That is not directed at you, JMTILLERY. Its directed at those who ridicule about my reaction to something they havent heard. Shows incredible naivete'.
