Where can you find a good display for Christmas lights?

There use to be a Greenwood neighborhood north of the 5/3 bank on Smith Valley Rd, that had a good display in the past, I have not been by there yet to see.

Camp Allendale use to have a display of Christmas lights off of SR 252 near Tralgar. I don't know if they have a display of lights, it's been a long time since I been down that way in December.

Usually I swing through Crawfordsville in the neighborhood near Wabash College (just west of US 231). Haven't been to C'Ville yet this winter.

The Reynolds Farm Equipment display in Fishers [at SR 37 and 126th street] is AMAZING - at least in the sense that it covers the length of about two football fields that otherwise sit empty in front of their store, and that they do it every year for FREE. I've seen far less compelling displays in the past actually charing by the carload for the right to drive thru [anyone remember the ISF a few years ago]. So, good stuff and kudos to the Reynolds family for doing this for the community all these years [and always making it better each year] for FREE. ;D

I haven't been out that way to see it this year, but last year one of the best christmas displays I have ever seen around here was up in Hamilton county on the property of Scott Jones. He is the guy that invented voicemail, gracenote and the search engine ChaCha. He hired a 23 year old computer whiz to build programmable christmas light displays. It was an amazing setup. It's located on the north side of 116th street, in between Spring Mill and Ditch Road west of Carmel.

This is not in Indiana, but once you see this display, others just don’t compare. The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios is unbelievable. They sync good sound quality music with lights and it is something worth a plane ticket to Orlando just to see at least once. They make it snow too, even if it is 70 degrees in the evening.

The first time I saw it a few years ago when we visited in the winter instead of the summer months, it left a lasting impression. I’ve been back a number of times and plan family trips there now during the holiday season. The Christmas, I’ll use that term instead of the politically correct Holiday decorations and lights all over the various theme parks there are unbelievable.

And yes, I was able to take trips like that while working in radio.

Merry Christmas to all you radio folks. And if you are still working at a station or radio group, you’ll need lots of good luck in the New Year.

used to long time ago alot of people in anderson would deck out there houses with x-mas lights and decorations.

not so much anymore. i think ive only seen maybe 2 or 3 houses actually decked out. quite sad really

bhorner - you are so right - that display was awesome. He sync'ed the lights to music on low power, and there were signs to tell where to tune on your radio to listen and watch - NICE.

I drove by Mr. Jones' place today and didn't see any lights up. I know it was during the day, but last year you could see the dimmed lights on the fence along 116th Street and Clay Center Road.

I went by the Jones house last night...he still has the computer running on his gated entryway, and the mansion is lit up big time, but the trees and bushes that were part of the display last year aren't lit up. Too bad, it looked great last year.

I remember back in the 80's when 102.3 was WLRS Louisville then, they put Christmas lights on a old R&R track bridge over the OH River just east of I 65.

Someone either told me or I saw this on the news that this bridge has caught on fire, can't remember if this occurred from the Christmas lights they had on the bridge?

It caught on fire many years ago back in the early 90's when they had fireworks set up on it for the derby week fireworks extravaganza. It may have happened since then, but I was working for a sound company that provided PA stacks for the event. Best fireworks show I ever saw, plus the bridge catching on fire as an added bonus...
