Since Lite-FM has gone country...

Who's gonna be taking over playing all of the best christmas music on the radio? With Lite-FM getting pummeled in the ratings by Star 94 & B98-5, and The Speculation of The Sunday morning christian music program, "Sounds of Faith", which could also be put to jeopardy on the heels of Lite-FM's big flip. I was wondering if CCM 104.7 The Fish might take over the duties of carrying it? WLTM and its predecessor, WPCH(Peach 94.9) started out as a religious music station, am I correct?

WPCH was WAVO-FM before being bought by ???(I can't remember who bought it!) back in '72 or '73.
WAVO was owned by Bob Jones University, the ultraconservative bible college. It played religious music and programming.

Well,Im Really Sick and Tired of CC! I dont know why 94.9 WLTM had to get Hurt like this I mean 94.9 WLTM
was Always Doing Good in the Ratings! Can Somebody Tell me Why They Flipped TO Country I mean A while back we knew it was going to Flip But No Idea it was going to be Before Christmas Day! I guess Everybody Lets Tune To B98.5FM! Did anybody Recorded the Flip?? I would like to Hear it I was Working So I could not Hear it! I will miss Delilah,Steve Goss,Randy & Spiff,Val Lorenzo and John Wetherbee, and Everybody else!! Bye RIP 94.9 WLTM!

I have a strong hunch about ATL's radio. It's home to Cox and Cumulus, and these companies have strong ties to the city. If the wheel breaks, fix it. It'll be as good as new. Cox knows how to run a good station. It owns B-98.5, WSB-AM, The River, and Kiss 104.1. Those stations are usually in the Top 10. I believe the new country station has already into the territories of Kicks, 107 South, and The Eagle-In which case it might get flipped to Classic Rock.

You know, I've been wondering that since the rumors started about the Lite flip, then the talk about "Southern Fried Friday Night". Maybe not full-on Classic Rock, but maybe Southern Rock? I wouldn't mind an in-between of the River and old 96Rock. TRG's never appealed to me, I love Classic Rock, but I refuse to listen to the River. Rubarb (sp?) in the Mornings (just because the station flips doesn't mean we have to throw "the rock" on the street, but what's loyal in radio?) and Tim Rhodes with the Drive Home on Classic Rock, Eagle 106.7?

Moby isn't tied to country. Before he came to Atlanta, he did rock in Dallas (and I believe the station was called "The Eagle"). :D

Moby also did mornings over on 97 Rock here in Houston (Which is now Alternative AC KHMX-Mix 96.5)

And Cox knows how to ruin a good station. They've been known to do that a time or two.

Yes, but they haven't perfected the art like CC has.

I still don't get why an AC who plays %100 Christmas music (and seems to do pretty well with it) would flip a week before Christmas? What is the motivation here? Or is this one of those Clear Channel "What were they thinking?" moments that we've come to know and love?

This is like getting your employees fired on Christmas Eve. Instead of getting bonuses, you'll be getting pink slips. I was wondering if CC has fired most of their airstaff members here at Lite-FM. I believe Jeff (JT) Tyson now works for KODA, which happens to be a well-performing station in Houston . Here's how the musical chairs played here at CC Atlanta. WLTM (94.9) becomes The Bull; 96 Rock was flipped to Project 96.1; WBZY became MEGA 96.7-A Hispanic Urban Station; WMAX (105.3) has gone spanish with El Patron-which has an emphasis on Regional Mex; and Cool 105.7 has completely abandoned the '60s & '70s for Musica Romantica. I believe execs over CC have just crossed over the border-not just to find its audience, but to find to something more than they have bargained for.
