Since nobody else is saying anything...

I may have mis-judged George, but, I've only met him twice. Each time he was a jerk.
Once was in a professional setting and once was a personal setting.
Neither time was the "jerkiness" directed At me, but it happened to other people while I was standing right there.
No one can deny his charity work...so there you go.

Keef59

Keef59. you sure seem obsessed with Conley's salary. You've written about it, with some angst, for a while now. Why is that? You don't need a compass, a map, and flashlight to summize who Keef really is, do you?

Whether some know you as "Scruffy", or perhaps, "Glen", we both know those names are wrong. When you take the time to slam George Klein, do you consider how far you might be from that same Walgreens? Could it be, you are a couple of months away from turning the mic on, and saying "Latishawnda, clean up on aisle 6"? When you slam Conley with the roulette wheel line, have you considered you're current place in life?

George and Steve might be curious to know that as well. Ron Olsen, who I think reads this, might be curious to know who said he had an "axe over his head", some months ago, wouldn't he? None of those 3 ever had to fake a WTSP audition reel, did they?

Since, we here on the radio board, have been kicked from the KURB at time or two, and are nothing but unemployed folks, as well, we enjoy the irony. Who wouldn't find humor in 31 years and more call letters than Cumulus, only leading to bad Smash Mouth slams of real legends, and Weekend shifts with faked "Episiotomy" callers. Without BIG friends from back in the day, you'd already be trained by Latishawnda, wouldn't you? Later Ron Burgundy.

I never worked for or with George directly, however, I did work at the station that carried "The Elvis Hour" and I would see GK fairly often when he came in to record the show. He was always quite friendly and would talk with you as long as you wanted to talk. I told him that I came to the TV studio one Saturday afternoon to watch the taping of Talent Party once when Black Oak Arkansas was on it. That night, BOA and others were doing a huge concert at the Liberty Bowl. I ran into Jim Dandy Mangrum in the bathroonm and he was bitching because he did not have the sewing thimble necessary to play his scrub board. There is a lot of music and radio knowledge in his head if anyone cares enough to ask. And I respect the way that he has not tried to use his relationship for fame and fortune the other "hangers on" have. George was more than just a "hanger on". and has told me that he will never write a book or do a documentary about Elvis.

I produced GK's Elvis hour for about two years. I'm honored to be able to call GK a true friend. He has NEVER been anything but a kind, caring, giving individual towards me and to all of my co workers at the staiton. Anyone who has anything bad to say about GK obviously hasn't spent much time with him. A true class act and a great person.
